MetroPCS bolsters 4G lineup with Samsung Galaxy Attain, LG Connect

Regional carrier MetroPCS has doubled their existing 4G lineup with the addition of the Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G and the LG Connect 4G.

The Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G is unfortunately only a moderate upgrade from the Galaxy Indulge that has been available for some time now. Much like its predecessor, it offers a 1GHz processor with a 3.5-inch screen. It features a 3MP rear and a 1.3MP font-facing camera. Fortunately it’s running Android 2.3, so it can leverage that front-facing camera for Google Talk. The Attain will be available in the next few weeks for $199 after a $50 mail in rebate.

The LG Connect 4G will be the star of the MetroPCS lineup by leaps and bounds. It brings a 1.2GHz dual-core processor to the table, along with a stunning 4-inch NOVA display that incorporates Corning’s Gorilla Glass technology. Like the Attain, the Connect will be running Android 2.3. No word on a 4.0 upgrade. The 5MP rear camera with flash is capable of 720 video capture, and a front-facing camera is present for video chat. On the audio front LG uses Dolby Mobile, and the phone is pre-loaded with Rhapsody Unlimited Music service. No official pricing yet, but a $50 mail rebate will be available.

Both phones are subject to MetroPCS’ $50 or $60 smartphone plans, which offer unlimited talk, text and browsing. The $50 plan allows for 1GB of multimedia streaming . For just $10 more you bump up to unlimited streaming. (Seems like a no-brainer to me).

If you are contract averse, but want to get in on the 4G LTE experience, the LG Connect 4G represents a fairly enticing option.

The LG Connect 4G specs are nice and fancy. Hope they have and ICS update in the mix at some point.

I wouldn’t count on it, but it’s certainly more than capable of doing so. If the prices comes in at around $300 after the rebate it’s still a bargain though paired with the $60 unlimited plan.

whats the difference between the LG esteem and the Lg connect? they look the same.

    • fulaman

LG Esteem is a single-core phone quite similar to the LG Revolution, and the LG connect is a dual-core powerhouse which has similar specs to some of the best phones on the market. What I’m wondering is of the processor is a Qualcomm or nvidia tegra 2.

Just bought this phone, wheres the led light? My led notification wont work… S there even one to begin with?

on the 50 dollar plan they only block youtube after 1gb of usage. all other video sites still work even vevo still works. crackle and veetle apps still work too. so if you dont care that much about youtube i would go with the 50 dollar plan. they also show a 40 dollar plan on their site that has 100mb multimedia but they wont let anybody get on that plan, seems like false advertisment to me.
