BGR has received a tip that AT&T is all set to launch a new tablet next week at CES that takes advantage of its shiny new 4G LTE network. The Pantech Element is a powerful 8-inch Honeycomb tablet that’s waterproof…nsort of. The tablet itself is not actually waterproof, but it is splash-proof, proved you remember to close the port doors. Okay, so you can’t take this tablet into the bath with you or mount it in the shower to get your morning Twitter update, but you don’t have to worry if you get it a little wet.
Other than the pseudo-waterproof billing, the Pantech Element is rumored to boast the following specs:
- 8-inch display
- 1.5 GHz dual-core processor
- Android 3.2 Honeycomb
- 16GB internal storage
- 5 megapixel rear camera with 1080p video
- 2 megapixel front facing camera with 720p video capture
The Pantech Element is rumored to go on sale January 8 for $299.99 with a new 2-year agreement (or $449.99 off-contract). It is a surprisingly beefy tablet coming out of AT&T and Pantech, and one that could turn a few heads at CES next week. We’ll be sure to bring you a hands-on with the Pantech Element next week.
