Dozens of Android apps go on sale to celebrate Google Play

To celebrate the new Google Play store, dozens of Android applications and games have gone on sale for only $0.49. This is a limited promotion, so go take advantage of the low prices while you can. Let us know your favorite pics in the comments below.

My top pics include Shadowgun, Osmos HD, Asphalt 6, Dead Space, and NOVA 2.

Update: This sale spans all types of content. From the Google blog: “To celebrate, we’ll be offering a different album, book, video rental and Android app at a special price each day for the next week in our “7 Days to Play” sale. In the U.S., today’s titles include the collection of top 40 hits Now That’s What I Call Music 41, the popular game Where’s My Water, the novel Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and the movie Puncture for just 25 cents each. In addition, you’ll find great collections of hip-hop, rock and country albums for $3.99 all week, detective novels from $2.99, some of our editorial team’s favorite movies from 99 cents, and our favorite apps from 49 cents.”

Hey look, the same old sale apps are back.

  • Zagrash

Of course they include one of the Kairosoft games I already own.

Wow, I talk about Kairosoft games a lot, don’t I?

    • jonathan3579

Their games are great! I played Game Dev Story for literally like 6 hours the first day I bought it.

      • Zagrash

I’ve got all of them but 3, I wouldn’t mind adding to my collection during this sale!

    • cristian cristiandonose

Kind of hacked that they just had Osmos HD and World of Goo in the Humble Bundle. Oh well, I’ll chalk it up to a good cause.

  • xsynth

Nice, shadowgun is on sale. I’ve been tossing up weather or not to get it but can’t complain at that price!!

  • Vineares

Shadowgun for 50 cents? Sure, why not?

  • Toonshorty

Pocket League Story is one of the best games ever.

Looks boring but after playing it for 72 hours straight you’ll realise how wrong you were!

  • Hall Lo

I grabbed some of them during the last 10 cents sale already, but some apps like word of goo and tunein radio were not there, and it’s good for people who missed the last sale! thanks google lol

  • Chad

Put that Hunger Games series on sale!

  • spazby

awesome, love promotions and will stock up

  • ranwanimator

NOVA 2 not compatible with TFP. Shadowgun not the THD version. /sigh/ It looked so great at first.

This is why we love Google!!

  • thekaz

Sweet! they ought to rename the market more often! :)

  • jenskristian

Just bought World of Goo. It’s absolutely the best Android game I have ever played. Amazing!

  • Kaote

Dead Space for .49 yes, I bought it. N.O.V.A. 2 still not compatible with the Transformer, did some one at ASUS tick off Gameloft?

  • copa

Can I take advantage of the lower prices even if I don’t own an android phone yet? That is, buy stuff cheap now, and load them on my new phone once I get it (waiting on the One X)

    • Someone

Sadly, you need an Android device of some sort to buy them. If you know anyone with an Android device willing to let you use it temporarily, you should be able to register your own and buy them (Settings > Accounts and Sync, there’s an option to add another gmail account). Make sure you hit up the Market’s settings to switch to yours before buying (or just use the web interface with your own account). If you go in-store, you may be able to use a product demo (I think just registering that device as “yours” then factory resetting). Just make sure you factory-reset or someone will have access to your account (contacts)

Do note: I’ve never tried any of the above, as I have two Android devices. Also note that the web interface will initiate an install operation on the device (unless the account is no longer synced). If you cancel the download, you won’t have to worry about uninstalling =)

Sweet! Heading over to the market now.

  • aranea

I loved the previous promotion and don’t see any reason not to love this one too.

  • Naitsaves

Aww, I paid more than $4 for World of Goo. Now I’m mad :/

    Great sale though :)

  • KRS_Won

Ugh, N.O.V.A. 2 is compatible with my X2 on Gameloft’s site, but not on the Mark… uh, Play? What’s up with that?

    • tmihai20

Yeah, I could not buy NOVA 2 either for my Evo 3D. I bought World of Goo, Camera ZOOM FX and Shadowgun.

      • KRS_Won

I sent gameloft an email asking if they could update their compatibility list, who knows?

        • tmihai20

Maybe they will solve this in a timely fashion so we can enjoy the game. If not, I’ll just play ShadowRun :)

  • Shadowlore

Want to add in “Quill”, if you goto the sale on a tablet, Quill shows up as well. (Have always liked it ;)

  • staryoshi

I finally jumped on Shadowgun ;) Keep the sales coming and I’ll keep investing in the Android platform!

  • http://None Javier Bastardo

Awesome, great collection of apps, sadly, in my country, all I got with this update was a nice cute Icon and name-change…

    • Someone

      Change your country. ;)
