GO Backup wins week 6 of #thenextinstall, 10 new apps try to take its place

Can our community help discover the next great Android app? Welcome to a new experiment called #thenextinstall where we try to see if we can find an Android app in the rough, and boost its installs and exposure to new highs.

Last week our community selected Solid Explorer, one of the nicest file manager we have ever seen on Android. The app is still in beta, but it’s already a great experience that average users can start using right away as their go to file manager. We helped the app surpass 100,000 installs, and I have no doubt it will reach 1 million downloads in the coming months.

Week 6 Winner: GO Backup

This time none of our suggested apps exploded, but GO Backup was the best received and generated the most installs. There are quite a few backup apps out there, but GO Backup is stable, fast, free, and features a simple design. It also features built in support for backing up GO Launcher themes, and has extra options for root users. The GO Dev team is one of the best around, so you can expect this app will receive timely updates that continue to add new features.

What’s next? How can I participate?

If you want to play along, then join the league of app addicts.

Over the coming week, we will continue to monitor all the apps and see which generate the most buzz. We will be watching the installs, download clicks, review scores, coverage on other sites, and more to see which app comes out on top. Next week we will name the winning app, and then put it up against 10 new apps to repeat the process.

If any of the suggested apps look interesting, please check them out and let us know what you think.

I’ve been using AppSales for the last few days, and it’s been pretty busy this week with the Because we May sale. At least that shows that it works =)

Just tried Relaunch! I have been looking for something like this for sometime now! With 120 apps and constant flashing it becomes quite difficult to organise in folders every time. So the app did a pretty OK job.

It sorted out my two different music players into different folders and left out some games in the “lost” folder, but for the most part, I’m happy with this one! I like how it can be implemented over your current launcher and you just swipe left to right on screen to pull it up.

Recommended for those with loads of apps on your phone!

I have been using Wave Launcher for over a year now and thought that Relaunch might replace it. No way! While it looks cool, the functionality of it falls well short. The finger swipe isn’t consistent and option to manually organize the apps is cumbersome. It also ditched half of my apps after getting them relocated.
I use the app Folder Organizer to organize my apps and then in Wave Launcher I create my wave using those folders. The swiping works every time and its configurable to swipe from any edge to avoid areas that interfere with other games/apps.

Yeah! After some use I found out that the app keeps popping up while touching the end keys of a keyboard or playing games (I hope an update will fix this…may make it a gesture). I’ll try the Folder organizer…thanks!

Nice selection! Giving Tagy, Relauch, Fahrbot, and Dominus a try.

sweet, i am gonna download and test all, that bit torrent UI looks gorg, i might replace Adownloader if it performs well.

I feel like to choose something with the pulling power of evernote or bit torrent would be to kinda miss the point of this whole series
