Best Buy email claims HTC EVO 4G LTE launch now set for May 23rd

The delayed launch of the HTC EVO 4G LTE has pissed more than a few people off. Earlier this week, we learned that the ITC has blocked imports of Sprint’s new flagship HTC device at U.S. Customs to inspect the software loaded on the devices to make sure HTC is no longer infringing upon Apple’s patent #5,946,647. Sprint’s official notice of the delayed launch went out on its community forums while HTC issued an official comment to the media.

We can confirm that the product will not be in stores this Friday. Products for pre-order are on hold. We’ll provide a ship date as soon as we’re able. HTC will work with Sprint to maintain the promise for pre-order customers so they will be among the first to receive their HTC EVO 4G LTE units when available.HTC

While all of this is bad new for consumers, the delay of the HTC EVO 4G LTE may be short lived. A glimmer of hope appeared this afternoon when Best Buy customers who had pre-ordered the HTC EVO 4G LTE restarted receiving emails which state that the new release date for the phone has been pushed back from May 18th to May 23rd.

Best Buy could have some information which has not yet been made available to the public, but HTC has not released any new information on the issue. We are waiting to hear back from them regarding this new development. For all we know, the ITC has already lifted the U.S. Customs hold on the HTC EVO 4G LTE and HTC One X and HTC is waiting to release an official statement until the devices start moving through their supply chain again.

I stopped in Best Buy this morning and the cell guy there told me that he thought it was coming out next week. I just find this as coincidence.

Just another reason why trying to run a business and dealing with the US is a nightmare!

I’m sure it’s much easier to do business in China.

I can’t stand this! I preordered by phone last week and want to get it ASAP. I may go down to my local Apple store and give someone at the genius bar a piece of my mind. I know it’s not their fault, but the company they work for is pure evil.

Dam apple and their suing ways, they can never play fair can they.

I still don’t get this. Is apple really this scared of Android? If windows computers were stable I would never own a Mac. I will never personally use an iPhone until they change their ways which I think will never happen. I wish I could convince my wife not to use an iPhone but she wanted something that wasn’t to complicated and didn’t do so much as my Android. Oh well.

I guess you’ve never seen the spinning beach ball of death?
I’m curious as to what your wife and people in general find so complicated about Android. I’ve asked people that own iPhones and their answer is “it’s fun to use” and it’s so easy. The people that I”ve met that have told me that, find it easy because the apps just get plastered over the screen and not in an app drawer. That’s what I’ve gotten from talking to people. What does your wife find so compelling about the iPhone? This is an honest question, not trolling you. I’ve tried using friends iPhones and they are fine, I just don’t get the “it’s easier”

Just received a second email from Best Buy stating their email from earlier today contained incorrect information and the current release date for the evo lte is still unknown. thanks for getting our hopes up BB

I preordered through Sprint, got a letter today just stating that phones are stuck at customs and there isn’t an ETA.

      • thel0nerang3r

and by letter, I meant email.

Gosh, I despise apple. They are the largest most profitable company in the world and they can’t stand to see other people compete with them.

There is no reason that these devices should be delayed since they do not infringe on the apple patent. Apple sucks.

I pre-ordered from Amazon Wireless for $150 and the e-mail they sent me says July 5th is the expected delivery date. That’s over a month! I’m way pissed at Apple!
