Gameloft releases teaser video for first Unreal game


Last week Gameloft revealed they were working on their first mobile game to use the Unreal Engine, and today they have released the first teaser video. The 30 second clip opens with the message “Be prepared to relive history”, shows off some stunning 3D graphics, and then tells us the game is called Wild Blood.

Not much else is known about the game, but Gameloft says is it “coming soon” to Android and iOS. Gameloft says a hint about the story is hidden in the video and they plan to release more details on their Facebook page. Recently Gameloft has started hyping their new games up about one month from release, and they have stated it is their goal to have simultaneous releases on Android and iOS.

    You know, even though they have a business model of ripping off game concepts from the “real” consoles, at least they do a good job of it.

    I still can’t justify spending the kind of cash they want for a game on my phone… I don’t play them enough to spend that kind of money… Let alone the number of times I do a full wipe when installing a new rom.

      Most Gameloft games are free, and the paid ones range from $0.99-$6.99. How much is too much?

        Unfortunately, too many Android gamers have been conditioned to “free as in beer” for their mobile games. They’ll gladly pay $60 for the next Call of Warfare: Halo Battlefield, which is little more than a rehash of the ~10^400 preceding games in the franchise except with slightly shinier graphics and one or two more guns, but anything more than $0.99 (including initial purchase and optional in-app purchases) for a well-done mobile game providing hours of on-the-go entertainment, and they all but violently riot outside the developer’s office with molotovs.

        Which is precisely why it’s so hard to have nice things.

          No offense stranger, but I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. Yes, I have paid $59.99+tax(CA) for a video game that runs on my PC. The graphics are NOT just slightly shinier, the graphics on some of these games will put ANY mobile game to shame!

          Have you ever seen the graphical capabilities of Battlefield 3 at its Highest Setting?

            uhm… I guess he typoed on purpose to mention at the same time call of duty, battlefield and halo in a funny way?

            Adrien C. responded correctly. Yes, the “Call of Warfare” was intentional. It was a parody of the names all hashed into one because they’re all so damn similar.

            Not a gamer? I’ve been a gamer for 20 years starting with the Atari, through the NES, Genesis, SNES, N64, GameCube, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Wii, and Xbox 360. I’m pretty sure I know *exactly* what I’m talking about.

            And yes, I have seen the graphical capabilities of any modern game as its highest setting. Yes, they’re beautiful, but that’s missing the point: since when is being a “gamer” about “OMG GAIS LOOK AT HOW REAL MY GUN LOOKS LOL N00B” instead of innovative gameplay or *shock and gasp* a good STORY!

            I pay for gameplay and fun, not a glorified HD movie.

        For a Gameloft title, that isn’t too much. But since everyone is brainwashed with weird logic that mobile games aren’t “real games,” developers are forced to start with free, freemium, or cheap games, at least until people wake up, or they have built up enough of a reputation that their games are legit. Gameloft has proven that they don’t make junk. Unfortunately, it’s also the fact that android is open source and that anyone can make any kind of crap that creates this sort of skepticism and penny pinching.

      That’s why I basically4 stopped playing games on my phone, After so many wipes it’s just not worth it for me anymore. The only games I play now are games like Bejeweled.

        If you know about rooting and ROMing your phone, you must also know of backups? I mean, it’s easy to back a game up, flash a new ROM (even if you wipe data) and then restore that game and data so you don’t lose progress. I’m assuming that’s your issue, losing progress?

        Bringing back data from one ROM to another isn’t a big deal. System data on the other hand is where you’ll run into problems, and that’s not suggested, but you cannot possibly tell me restoring data from a game like this really causes issues. If it does, it would’ve on any stock OTA update so you’d be hosed anyway.

      Why does a full wipe matter with mobile games? I’ll make the assumption you’re rooted (otherwise, why full wipe unless you’re getting rid of the phone?), in which case you can backup your save game data with Titanium Backup or whatever your favorite root backup application may be.

      I will concede, however, that such preservation of data should be allowed within the game itself without significant trickery or added effort by the developer. It should be as simple as a flag in the application manifest to backup application data to the cloud and retrieve it after a wipe (or with an additional device). Steam Cloud Sync is a great example of this.

    Is the graphics really any good? Looks like it has low polygon count all over. The waterfall at the beginning is fake as hell.

      Are they? Yes, for a pocket size device I’d be quite happy with graphics of that caliber. There are plenty of current generation console games which that video is on par with graphics-wise.

    Wow, and I thought the graphics were awesome! I must live in a hole and not play too many games…

    Does anyone know if this (or any) game will support an external controller? The one big problem I have with phone and tablet games is the interface.

    Now lets just see if gameloft actually makes it available to most current gen phones considering they still haven’t done much for NOVA 3

    It looks nice, but I can’t get into gaming on a phone. Something about the feel of a controller is awesome. I know screens are bigger now, but things still seem like there in the way.

    I wonder what kind of game play this game will be, it looks like an RPG but I guess we will have to wait and see.

    Games will come into their own with the release of the next generation of chipsets. The problem still remains with controllers. The touch screen controls are mostly just awful…

      ..and you can’t forget the recent release of OpenGL ES 3.0. That combined with future chipsets should bring some pretty awesome games.
