Phosphor Games announces epic adventure title Horn coming to Android next week

Today Phosphor Games revealed that their third-person action adventure game Horn would be coming to Android next week for $6.99. This same developer brought us Dark Meadow which is still the best looking Android game I have ever played, so we are super excited to get our hands on their latest work.

“Horn is our most ambitious project to date. Our goal from the onset was to provide a console-style experience for mobile devices that can be played and enjoyed by anyone,” said Chip Sineni, Director at Phosphor Games Studio.  “Partners such as Zynga and NVIDIA were invaluable in helping us make the most of the technology, reach out to millions of people, maximize our resources, and produce a game we hope players will enjoy and appreciate.”

Included in a press release were new details about the game’s story:

“Based loosely on the Old English tales of King Horn, you play as a young blacksmith’s apprentice named Horn who wakes up to find your village and lands over run by large fantastic, and sometimes humorous, monsters. It is revealed that these creatures are actually the people and animals from your village transformed by a curse, and you alone have the power to free them. On your incredible adventure you carry the loud-mouthed head of one such fantastic creature with you – a somewhat uncooperative and ill-tempered but grudgingly helpful sidekick. Along with this new companion you must use your sword, crossbow, trusty musical horn, and wits to explore the lands, defeat the enemies, and solve puzzles in your quest to undo the curse that engulfs your homeland.”

Several high-res screen shots are included below to hold you over until next week. Check out the video interview with Chip Sineni to hear his thoughts on working with the Unreal Engine 3 and Tegra 3.

This game looks amazing! Too bad I don’t have a Tegra 3 device yet.
Nexus 7?? ::clicks ‘Add to Cart’:: nevermind! ;)

The Nexus 7 is the cheapest Tegra device you’ll find if you don’t want to wait another year for the OUYA.

  • Adryan maldonado

i hope this comes to the play store soon so non tegra 3 devices can play this. There are so many devices capable of playing this that it would be a shame to keep it tegra 3 exclusive for too lone especially as awesome as this game looks.

As Dark Meadow still seems to be Tegra 3 exclusive I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Awesome. I was saving some of my Play Credit for this. I have just enough I think.

  • F1apjacks

This game looks cool. Too bad I won’t be able to play it for quite some time. None of my devices have a Tegra chip in them. Anybody want to buy me a Nexus7?

Awesome! Just wondering how the controls are.

    • Taylor Wimberly

Everything looks to be tap and swipe. The iOS version is getting rave reviews.

Looks good, but I wish they would evolve the controls beyond tap and swipe.

The game looks really good visually and physically as well.

I’d still love to try out Dark Meadow. I’ve heard great things about this developer, but since I “only” have Tegra 2 devices, I’ve been left out. :(

    • theviper21

I know the feeling! I am hoping to get a Tegra 3 device soon to be able to play some of these newer titles.

      • Homncruse

Don’t get me wrong, the Tegra 3 is great, but it feels the Tegra 2 was completely abandoned way too quickly.

  • MoSDeeb

Amazing visuals. Seems like a future purchase.

  • nivekkev

I’m thinking I will give this one a try too, may be just what I am looking for in a RPG. We shall see…

  • nuri

I think everyone’s writing a Tegra 3 device on their Christmas wishlist this year …

    Nexus 7 ftw! :)
