HTC Rezound Android 4.0 update now available from Verizon

After countless rumors, leaks, and missed release dates, the Android 4.0 update for the HTC Rezound has finally arrived! Verizon has posted documents detailing the new update along with download/installation instructions on the Rezound’s software update page. Those not willing to wait for Verizon to push out the update can grab the RUU and manually install it on their device.

If you’ve read through any of our Android 4.0 update stories for HTC devices lately, you probably know everything the update will include. The highlights included the in the 299MB 3.14.605.12 build will be HTC Sense 3.6, Face Unlock, advanced notifications and a new brower, but Verizon is also throwing in Wireless Alerting System, improved VPN support for Sysco AnyConnect and enhancements to the VCAST Media Manager.

While it’s taken HTC an excruciatingly long time to update its phones to Android 4.0, we’re glad to see that HTC has been working extremely hard this past week to get the updates pushed out to multiple phones. Is there room for improvement? Certainly, but as iut stands right now, HTC is ahead of the curve when compared to Samsung, Sony, Motorola and all other main Android OEMs.

I’ve been checking for the OTA all day, but haven’t seen it yet. Per Verizon, it will be rolling out in “phases” to customers. So who knows how long we’ll have to wait for it to actually hit all the phones. If I didn’t care about doing a full wipe, I would consider the RUU route.

Update: I was able to pull the OTA as of 12:30PM EST. Just waiting for it to finish installing now.

        “Humble” is an understatement.

It has taken HTC an amazing amount of time to update the Rezound to ICS. I hope the Rezound will get another update, either ICS 4.0.4 or Jellybean.

This is one of the reasons I like HTC. It may awhile but they came through. That’s 3 this week if I’m not mistaken.

They are waaaaaay behind. Anyone can release 3 updates in a week 6 months late.

Yeah, but no one else is. Samsung has dozens of 2011 phones till on Gingerbread and Motorola has only updated 2 or 3 so far.

Samsung updates their flagships only. International S2 had ICS BEFORE Nexus S, the international Note got its update soon after that. I mention the international versions because it doesn’t have carrier interference factor involved. Samsung is ready but carrier were NOT. This goes the same with every other brand and phone.

Late to the game but who the heck is Sysco?? the food distributor? They don’t do AnyConnect, Cisco does that. Spell check your articles please.

It’s unfortunate that the rezound didn’t get Sense 4.0
