Samsung says Android 4.1 coming soon to Galaxy S III, Note 10.1

Samsung’s Unpacked event at IFA 2012 isn’t all about new devices. Amongst the announcement of the Note II and Galaxy Camera, the Galaxy S III and Note 10.1 both got a mention in regards to when they’ll be updated to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean.

There’s still no exact date, but during Samsung’s presentation it was said that the Galaxy S III and Note 10.1 will be updated “very soon.” There was no verbal mention of the original Note, but it did appear on the slide in the background when the update was being discussed.

So just how long until “very soon”? Considering we’ve already seen fully functional Jelly Bean builds for the S III, we can’t imagine it’s far off. Maybe even before the first day of fall.

Samsung is doing a great job keeping the Galaxy S III fresh in everyone’s mind. Some new paint jobs and an update to Jelly Bean will keep the S III as one of the top smartphones to consider for the rest of the year. It’s great to hear about the Note 10.1 being updated so soon as well.

Disappointed that the Galaxy S II wasn’t part of the update announcement.

I agree… no official Skyrocket love!? (reason I have a Nexus now… thank you XDA)

Where u at HTC……..better make an announcement son about the One X 4.1 update!

Jellybean is very very close on the Tmobile Galaxy S3. It will be extremely soon so I am not worried. Htc and Moto as well as Lg where is your jellybean for your top flagship products. No more smartphones coming out with ice cream sandwich. The Verizon Galaxy Nexus is extremely lucky Samsung made the device otherwise they wouldn’t be seeing jellybean anytime soon. Samsung has had jellybean since June carriers have gotten this update time for them to take care of business..

Weren’t you the idiot who said the SGSIII (on T-Mobile specifically) would get Jelly Bean before the “crappy” Verizon Galaxy Nexus? Why don’t you stop embarrassing yourself with these unproven and quite wild “facts” that you “know” will happen when you have absolutely no clue?

“carriers have gotten this update time for them to take care of business..” Apparently you still haven’t/can’t understand the update process and the amount of time it takes to make sure everything is working properly. How very sad since I’ve explained it to you at least a dozen times.

Dont know about your junk US phones on your junk US networks, but the international GS3 IS getting JB imminently. The latest Samsung leak is extremely close to release quality.

        • squiddy20

Yeah well, as you so obviously pointed out, our “junk” phones on our “junk” networks don’t work the same way. Anything new you’d like to bring to the table?

Silence, coon. No one wants to hear your mindless drivel. Do the human race a favor and when you’re done with your duck and your ass pounding, be a good baboon and jump in a wood chipper.

The nexus updates come from Google so no owners of the galaxy nexus aren’t lucky Samsung made it since Google made the update and pushes it, not Samsung..

I imagine T-mobile’s Galaxy S III will get Jelly Bean soon. My S III got an OTA about 2 days ago to 4.0.4. I am kind of taking it as a prelude, prep step before pushing out 4.1. Or the exact opposite could be true too, but with the way things have been going, I am concerservatively opptimisitic.

Well that’s good news for my brother, he will be happy to hear this.

I’ve been trying to ignore Samsung, and haven’t wanted to be just another person jumping in their camp just because everyone else is, but they are just doing everything right. I got my One S for free before the SGSIII was even available, so I can’t be mad at that, but HTC has been letting me down in a handful of areas lately. I think I might take the middle road and grab the next Nexus.

Nexus sucks !!! I have the note 10.1 and s3

  • AIM2002

Please let the SII get jellybean. I need it.
