Google Play launches huge sale to celebrate 25 billion downloads

If you are new to Android, you might want to take advantage of the upcoming sale on the Google Play store. It was just announced that Google Play now offers 675,000 apps that have been downloaded a total of 25 billion times, and they are celebrating the milestone with a huge promotion.

For the next five days you will be able to grab some of the best paid Android apps for only 25 cents. We don’t have a full list of the apps yet, but Google says it will include a selection fromĀ top developers including Gameloft, Electronic Arts, Rovio, runtastic, Full Fat and more. They will also be offering some special collections likeĀ 25 movies you must own, 25 banned books, 25 albums that changed the world and our 25 top selling magazines, all at special prices.

As of this posting we still haven’t spotted any sale items, but Google says it should go live later today.

Update: The full list of apps on sale is now on available for Day 1 and Day 2.

Apple doesn’t do that :p. Google loves these sales, they’re awesome!! :D

I’m always hoping that Swiftkey will go on sale. I’m always recommending that app to my friends, and when it’s on sale for $.50 or $.25, it’s a no-brainer to purchase.

    • Daniel Brierton

If I recall correctly, it was on sale for $0.10 during the 10 billion downloads sale.

      • Trobing

It did. I was one of the lucky ones to get it for $0.10.

You missed out big time it was just .99 a few weeks ago.

It’s like Black Friday came early…minus the 5AM lines of course

I absolutely love these deals. I typically buy all of the games that look appealing and play them when I have time. I am still playing through most of the games that I bought during their 10cent promotions!

    • Thomas Biard

Yeah I did the same. I bought almost every app during the 10cent sale just to have for later use if I desired. Got some good games (Drop 7), got Swiftkey (sill use swype though)…and many more. Most of them I purchased but haven’t downloaded.

  • Ardrid

Looking forward to grabbing some quality apps on the cheap.

This is so funny, I was talking to a co-worker just yesterday about how a lot of my paid apps I got through a sale, she asked me to inform her of the next one as she is about to purchase her first paid app, she is going to love this…(I am too by the way!!!)

    • kee

Thanks co worker I’m buying apps as we speak!

  • avinash

i have a low end phone.. if i buy apps at this discount price will i be able to re install the purchased apps on to my new phone without paying again or should i pay the price again without discount when i get a new phone?????

      • Darkpanda

You will keep the apps on any device your google account is configured

        • avinash

even when i buy at discount price i can re install apps ?…thanx

          • yes

Yes it’s yours forever and you can download on any devices for free once you purchase them. AS LONG AS YOU SIGN IN WITH SAME GMAIL ACCOUNT YOU BOUGHT THEM WITH.

          • redraider133

yes as long as you use the same google account the apps will be there no matter what android device you use.

    • diddy47

your app purchases are tied to your google account not your phone….meaning even if you change phones a 100 times you will still have your apps …no repurchase needed. infact if you have two devices with the same google account the apps you bought can be downloaded on both devices

      • avinash

so i can re install all apps that i brought at discount onto my new phone without paying even when i buy them at discount?

        • yes

          Yes even with discount

    • That Guy

Yes, since they are linked to your Google Account. The only issue might be compatibility.

  • MIPonders

I’m looking for 25-cent apps and games right now. Nada under Rovio or Gameloft yet. Anyone else have luck?

  • uknowme

Thank you Google! I love you too!

  • MoSDeeb

Good for google to be able to keep the momentum going. With more downloads/sales the better for consumers as more developers start to release android apps.

  • kwills88

This is what I call a celebration. Congrats to Google on another milestone.

  • Silver

Oh heck yeah! Another milestone for Google and another awesome sale from Google. Definitely grabbing Symphony of Eternity since Kemco makes really awesome old school RPGs. I actually previously bought Symphony of Eternity on Amazon but would definitely love to have it on here as well since it’s so cheap this time.
