Echofon is a really clean Twitter client. Although I am a new user of this app I would recommend playing around with it. This one might replace Seesmic for me.

Of all the unique and very useful apps out there especially if you are into photography, color grab is great and can potentially help with custom color editing of photos you’ve taken or need to take! AWESOME!

Weather Maps looks cool, I’m shocked Google hasn’t thought of doing this or partnering to do this.

    • goughrmak

I agree. I always wondered why they wouldn’t put it as another layer.

    Woho more twitter clients :-)

Avocado looks really neat, but I can see some couples (not excluding my wife and I) being insufferably annoying with it. Like “poke wars” on Facebook. Anyway, thanks for sharing, it’s definitely the pick of the litter here. I would want to know how private it is, though.

I have Weather Maps already, and it’s not as good as it could be. I’ve been talking to the developer on XDA, and what I think would make it an amazing app worth paying at least $5 for, is if it does the realtime weather tracking like’s “Wundermap”, which is really the best weather map on the Internet. It’s especially useful if you live on the east coast (eastern North Carolina here). There’s really no reason it can’t be done, it just hasn’t yet. But this dev knows about it and he wants to make it happen, so let’s all download his app (those who haven’t already) and see if he can pull it off.

Roamz sounds like that recent Google app, Field Trip. There have been others as well. Doesn’t Foursquare kind of do this?

And Found just sounds like a copy of Glympse.

For apps that duplicate existing functionality, I’d like to know what (if anything) they do differently. When I see an article like this and I don’t see that information, I assume nothing notable is different.

really like the weather app.. very nice indeed

  • dacevedo

I like Pixlr Express. A very good app.

  • pickledgator

Some interesting apps this week. Color Grab seems ideal, but hopefully it works well across different camera hardware.

  • doublin

    Weather Maps i love it.

  • imdiane

I don’t see myself as an Android rookie but of all the apps you’ve listed I’ve only got a couple installed so it’s nice to discover new ones.

I’ve been using Echofon recently and I must say it is a nice app and I’m glad they’ve created one for Android. I’ve also installed Avocado and picked this social network for two from the others just because of it’s super cute avocado logo. The user experience inside is neat too.

Found sounds just like a Glympse to me so I don’t feel the need to install that.

I haven’t tried Roamz yet but I already have Foursquare and Yelp to help me with that.
