Looks like a great product, but it’s too bad it’ll only be on Verizon. It would have been nice for HTC to launch this phone on all of the major carriers, but hopefully next year it will adopt the strategy of having one premier smartphone on all carriers. That way, HTC can take full advantage of all the money spent on R&D and get economies of scale.

    • Thomas Biard

Yeah but it is SIM Unlocked. The last sentence says “…and works on AT&T’s HSPA network without any issues”

      So no problem there.

      • dud

This might be a stupid question but How does a verizon cdma phone work on att gsm network.

        • bellken

The DNA is a global phone, it has gsm radios.

          • dud

So it has both cdma and gsm radios.? Maybe I just need to do some research.

        • Derek

Most Verizon LTE phones can be used as global phones. LTE is a GSM based technology. I had the HTC Rezound and it was easily capable of being used on ATT, T-mobile, and in Europe.

          • Conrad

LTE is *not* as GSM-based technology – they are two totally separate things. The Droid DNA is a “world phone” in that it has both CDMA (Verizon/Sprint) and GSM (AT&T/most of the rest of the world) radios. “LTE” is a data rate category designation, which is used with both AT&T (GMA) and Verizon (CDMA) networks. The internals are different, but they have the same name. I don’t have one, but I have read several reviews saying how the DNA does well on AT&T’s voice and data networks – comparable to Verizon’s. (The “official” specs on VZW’s product page don’t seem to mention this LTE capability, but I trust the reviews more than V’s pages here.) I hope to get one in the next week – we’ll see what happens…

      • BigCiX

        What about at&t’s LTE?

        • Erik

Will not work since Verizon and AT&T use different frequencies for LTE

  • Scott Watson

You say it can be used on AT&T’s network “without any issues,” but isn’t not able to take advantage of the higher speed band?

    • Droid Sam

It’ll be just like any other ATT phone with HSPA speeds. No LTE, but you should be able to get 2-4 megs download speeds.

  • Prince77

I just got back from a Verizon store and they didn’t have any in stock, I just wanted to get a feel and look of it. He told me maybe in a week they will have some, they already lost me and I’m with Sprint.

    • Droid Sam

odd, just played with one at my local store. They should have received their shipment earlier this week. The store I was at had a huge droid DNA poster on the wall and two phones out to test.

  • GRAW

Our city’s store still hasn’t gotten any either.

  • Corrector

“but the device is now officially available at Verizon retail stores across the country.”

That should say “but the device should not officially be available at…”

I pre ordered my last Thursday n received it today. So I’m going to enjoy this beast while all these picky whiney haters do what they do best!! ; )

    • Richard Yarrell

Oh come on brother we all know you ain’t rolling with NO HTC DNA. Your just as bad as that other ding dong head @squiddy20. You guys NEVER BUY NEW DEVICE you just troll on these sites talking out the side of your neck. My Galaxy Note 2 SHITS all over your battery draining in 5hrs, lack of storage crappy picture taking HTC DNA. Oh yeah my GALAXY NOTE 2 has 146 gb of space.

      • Richard Yarrell

130gb of space. 64sdcard, ,50gb dropbox built in, 16gb internal storage.

        • squiddy20

          1. You don’t have 50 GB of Dropbox “built in”. Dropbox is online storage, as in, somewhere other than on your phone or computer. Idiot.
          2. On another site (, you cited 146 GB too, but here you’ve downed it to 130. So which is it Richard? 130 or 146? Care to keep your ridiculous story straight for once?
          3. In response to your other comment, for the month or so after I had gotten my Galaxy Nexus, YOU were the moron who wouldn’t believe me. And here you are again saying crap that you have no way of knowing. Do you know who Snowbdr REALLY is, in real life? Do you know his age, name, financial status, and other facts about him? No? Then STFU idiot. You are no one who claims to know everything, but is often found to be completely wrong. It’s quite hilarious how much you get wrong on such a constant basis. Anyone else would’ve learned to either shut up or get smart about what they say, but not you. You’re the same delusional, hypocritical moron that you were 2 years ago when you were praising HTC as the perfect and only manufacturer, while saying how much it was “shitting” on “Samsuck”.
          4. “battery draining in 5hrs,” And you know this… how? The phone was released today. Do you own one and know of this “5hrs” battery life for a fact? Of course not.

Who’s the one who “[talks] out the side of [his] neck” again?

          • Richard Yarrell

Hey the great to see the normal trolls here on androidandme trying to hate. You losers make me laugh every year when new devices come out. You can bank on one thing that I will be buying while your sitting on the sidelines leaving comments to all my posts. Don’t worry about the storage on my Galaxy Note 2 which was the same as my Galaxy S3 before it was sold. You clowns make me laugh that’s why I come here now to blast your sorry no buying loser ass cause your nothing more than hot air on the internet. You and @snowbdr89 are the biggest clowns on this site. Question to Mr. squiddy20…You still rolling with that 3g Galaxy Nexus on Sprint???If you are it’s pretty shameful and comical. You device is garbage guess it matches it’s owner. At least @snowbdr89 got something that shits all over your crappy Galaxy Nexus on Sprint. Only problem with his is that he will be running to the charger every 5hrs tops. Least he is up with the times Mr.squiddy20 your a pretty pitiful former college boy. Me and my GALAXY NOTE 2 is riding into the sunset pissing all over you and your worthless 3g enabled Sprint Galaxy Nexus. At the rate you purchase things the Nexus brand will be out two more times before you ever be able to purchase another. And YES SIR 64GB CARD 16 INTERNAL AND 50GB OF DROPBOX stop hating and start purchasing or is it that income is pretty tight out their in the boondocks.

          • squiddy20

Wow. What an “intelligent” response. Well over half of your comment was nothing more than childish name calling and trash talking. Try sticking to the facts.
            1. The Verizon Galaxy Nexus is only 1 year old, and is roughly comparable to most phones released just a few months ago. It does just about everything your SGS3 did. Far cry from “useless”. Idiot.
            2. Even if I had millions of dollars, I wouldn’t spend that money getting a new phone every year. It’s simply a waste of money. Why spend it on a slightly upgraded phone when I could put it towards things that actually IMPROVE my life and make it more comfortable/enjoyable. And no, I don’t get all my enjoyment in life from my phone. I’m not as shallow as you.
3.”Don’t worry about the storage on my Galaxy Note 2″ I’m not “worried” about it or you. Merely pointing out how wrong you are. Again. As usual.
            4. So you have 130 GB. Am I supposed to be impressed? It’s sad how you’ve turned this into a pissing match about… storage space, of all things. Only people who are insecure about themselves feel the need to go to such extreme measures to find gratification. Much like men who buy big trucks or other “toys” to compensate for their little Dicky. The only difference between you and them is, your “toys” are $350-and-under smartphones. Yeahhhh, big money. What a joke.

      • snowbdr89

Just when I think you couldn’t get any dumber you open that hole an prove me wrong!! The battery in this phone is doing just fine and my gs3 got outstanding battery life and please don’t call me brother!!

        • clocinnorcal

I bet he is hilarious to know in real life.

          • Thomas Wimberly

Richard, snowbdr and squiddy are the same person.
I cant believe you didnt figure this out, especially when “they” are always the first to answer to RY

          • squiddy20

I’m curious as to how you “know” we are in fact the same person. For instance, our writing styles are completely different. I use mostly correct grammar/punctuation/spelling, while Richard couldn’t to save his life, even with autocorrect. You also don’t see me going around saying how “boss” my Galaxy Nexus is or any of the other BS Richard claims.
Also, your logic is utterly flawed. Just because I am usually “the first to answer RY” does not make me him, or vice versa. I notice you are also under a guest account. Under your (laughably ridiculous) train of thought, we might as well be the same person simply because I am responding to your comment roughly 30 minutes after you posted.
Besides, even if we were all the same person, what would that accomplish? We’d effectively be having arguments with ourselves (ourself?). Please tell me you realize how crazy/stupid that sounds.
I can assure you, I am not Richard, nor am I snowbdr. I can’t attest to the snowbdr/Richard connection though.

          • Bpear96

I’ve always thought the same thing thomas.!

          • Richard Yarrell

Very hilarious I am but I also keep it real in real life. These guys would seriously have their asses kicked real bad if I ever had the pleasure of seeing anyone of them. They are nothing more than cowards signing in as guest leaving countless comments to whatever I post in a effort to think they are intimidating me. Truth be told I’d wax both of their asses up and down and street anywhere in New York or where ever they live.

          • squiddy20

Yep, I’m totally scared of a guy who makes a 30 second video of himself talking to no one as he walks to work:
What’s even more sad about this is, in the 2 months since it’s been uploaded, it’s only had 13 views, 2 likes, and 1 comment… from yourself. Yeah, I can see how “real” you’re keeping it. -__-

        • snowbdr89

If I’m Richard then please end my miserable life!!

          • Richard Yarrell

Thank god I am not squiddy20 or snowbdr89 they have been the biggest ASSHOLES on this site for years. They have both hidden their true identity least I am man enough to be me and let that be known I am no coward or afraid to be myself. In the real world I’d bitch slap squiddy20 he is a sad conclusion of a person can’t believe something like that will ever went to college least that’s his claim. For a college boy he’s such a stupid ass it’s pretty comical. I feel sorry for his mother….

          • snowbdr89

All that from a guy in his 40s, impressive!!

          • squiddy20

“They have both hidden their true identity” Uhhh, take a look around dumbass. Half the people on here, even the people signed in to Android and Me, aren’t using their real names.
How dumb and unobservant are you?

          • squiddy20

I just realized you said we have “abused people on this site for years”. This coming from the idiot who has told people their opinions are “useless”, “wrong”, or “mean nothing in the real world”. This coming from the idiot who has told people to move to a different city simply because they have crappy reception with 1 carrier (when the most logical thing to do is switch carriers). This coming from the moron who constant insulted me about being a “useless college boy” (when college is really the only way to get a better job anymore) and other ridiculously childish name calling and/or trash talking.

I find it hilarious that your first sentence in that comment is “[My] life has amounted to nothing substantial”, but then you tell me how *I* am the one abusing people. How much of a mindless hypocrite are you?

No Richard. I haven’t been “abusing people for years”. Just pointing out your hilariously stupid/erroneous comments.

        • Richard Yarrell

          Ok SISTER is that better????

  • hashim77

  • dreamdoggy22

You forgot to mention the bootloader is no longer unlockable like it was last week on the phones sent out to writers/reviewers. I’m sure that doesn’t surprise anybody (being locked), but worth a mention …maybe.

  • clocinnorcal

    Happy Bday in advance!

  • TMa

does it work on GSM networks, I want it in Europe?

    • Erik

Yes, should work perfectly with European 3G GSM netowrks.

  • Suhail

Waiting for the htc doid dna, i too have a soft corner for htc and android. htc understands the value of aesthetics and functionality very well.

  • Richard Yarrell

Plus just for the record HTC needs to start catering to it’s user base more they are sadly losing people with these carrier exclusive device. They shouldn’t worry about trying to be Samsung cause they never will be but they need to get it’s act together. Samsung has and will continue to blow Htc’s door off as the years move forward. The Galaxy Note 2 shits all over the Droid DNA all day long matter of fact I will never own a normal smartphone again. The Galaxy Note 2 is on a level and category totally on it’s own NOTHING COMPARES. That is until the Galaxy Note 3 arrives next year.

    • snowbdr89

I’m just curious does the note shit the DNA only because you own it? I’d really like to hear your thoughts on what makes it a better device.. but I don’t think your walnut sized brain could accomplish that!!!

      • redraider133

Before he said the evo shit on everything then the nexus then the sgs3 and now note 2. Apparently only the phone he owns is what everyone should have because nothing else compares.

    • redraider133

If the note is in its own category according to you how does it “shit” all over the DNA??

      • snowbdr89

I’d like Dick to explain why the note 2 is the best device if you go by benchmarks then the DNA is a better device!! Every device has its goods n bad hell I’m sure at one point Dick will be on the cricket network using a clamshell phone n saying how cricket shits on all the other networks only because the dumb bastard is on cricket!! There is something else id like Dick to explain if Verizon’s LTE drains battery life do bad then howcome I’m getting 16+ hours on my DNA?

  • Dezzy

Richard, we get that you love your Note2 and all its capabilities. But the DNA isn’t a Note competitor.HTC specifically said this wasnt to be compared to a phablet. So the Note doesn’t shit all over this device as you say.And its also, GSM capable so it isn’t exclusive to Verizon. Most GSM users will be able to use this device as its sim unlocked. Your Note 2 is a great device in its own right, but for some people the size is too big. And I’m not fond of the TW ui either. I’d much prefer stock android or even Sense over Touchwiz. You act as if the Note 2 is doing something so incredible that nothing ever will surpass it. It will. But there are other options out there in the Android ecosystem. Thats what makes it so great, choice and options. YOUR choices are NOT better than any other person’s. They just work better for YOU.

  • Don64

HTC? Nope. I don’t care how good the phone supposedly will be once it’s in my hands. Still steamed at HTC for the Thunderbolt fiasco that I am still dealing with. Verizon is at least trying to help HTC just sits back and say’s ‘Sorry, can’t help.’ even though it is their build of Android that is crap.

  • CaptainDoug

I just wish this thing had on screen keys and more storage.

  • Kaustubh_Adhav

Can’t wait for an unlocked version! When is it coming to India?

  • Dorkstar

The more I hear about the phones coming out recently, and the phones coming out next year. I feel like we’re finally moving into a era of high resolution screens, camera’s, and multi thread computing. Now if we can just hurry up and get the new power technology on board so we can power these devices for a while longer! While this is a solid phone, if i’m not ready for an upgrade I just can’t pick it up, it’s not quite “enough”.

  • kookeetree

O_O Compared to this my Samsung Skyrocket seems stone age. lol.

  • darkgreen

    that looks pretty cool.

  • Nolerltw

Has anyone seen the screen on this in action yet? Thoughts?
