Over 100 million Galaxy S series devices sold to date

640_GALAXY S series reached 100 million sales_5_1

Big news out of Samsung today that puts the success of their Galaxy S series devices into perspective. When combining sales for the original Galaxy S, S II and S III, sales of Samsung’s S series devices have officially topped 100 million globally.

There’s no denying Samsung’s impact on Android as a whole. For many people, Android is Samsung. They hold the biggest piece of both the market-share and profit pie. All of this is reflected in the fact that Samsung has managed to move over 100,000,000 Galaxy S devices. That’s not including the Note, Note II, Ace or any other Samsung devices. Just premium flagship phones over the last two and a half years.

As Samsung continues to move forward with a more unified portfolio approach (one model of S3 for as many carriers as possible, with as little changes as possible), sales continue to grow for the company. The original Galaxy S reached 10 millions sales in the first seven months of its existence, the S II reached the same number in just five months, and the S III hit 20 million sales in 100 days. Impressive to say the least.

Congratulations, Samsung. You’ve earned it. We can’t wait to see how well the Galaxy S IV sells.

    Did my share–I’ve bought six!

    • aufan1

      Wow. I’ve only bought two.

    • Joel

Lol, dang and I thought I was bad with 3. Two Epic 4Gs and 1 4G touch.

    • Dustin Earley

What ones, if you don’t mind answering.

    • Richard Yarrell

Samsung clearly is android and are the BEST manufacturer in the tech game period sales reflect that. I have owned 4 Samsung devices and will awaiting the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 in 2013 which will make 6 total by the end of 2013. If you’re not rolling with Samsung then you’re not rolling at all in my book. Now let’s see if the typical androidandme trolls respond to this comment they usually always do. That’s what makes it fun coming here cause trolls don’t buy current devices or 2 devices yearly like i do. They just troll all day on the Internet with their old crusty devices.

      • squiddy20

“If you’re not rolling with Samsung then you’re not rolling at all in my book.”
Who cares? You’re a hypocritical fanboy who thinks whatever phone you currently own is ‘the best” and nothing is, or ever will be, better. Tell that to your “legendary” Evo 3D that you said would be “Sprint’s flagship device well into 2012″.
“That’s what makes it fun coming here cause trolls don’t buy current devices or 2 devices yearly like i do.” WATCH OUT! WE GOT A BIG SPENDER OVER HERE!
So you can afford 2, less than $350 *carrier subsidized* smartphones per year. Are we supposed to be impressed? How childish that you feel the need to pull a “my stick is bigger than yours” contest. What are you, 8?

        • Richard Yarrell

Oh yeah hey top androidandme troll the useless squiddy20. How is it in your mothers dark lonely basement??? How’s it going in that dark room. Can’t help but laugh at how useless you have become what a serious LOSER you have become in life especially here on android and me. Your just another trolling butthole. Only asswipes would thumbs up this asshole but that’s expected here cause nothing makes to much sense. Don’t hate what others can do LOSER just live your miserable pitiful life your a clown.

          • squiddy20

I’ve always heard that we write about what we know most, so that must mean you know a lot about “cold dark basements” since you’ve used the same stale line for 2 whole years. Seriously, do you have one iota of creativity or thoughtfulness in your tiny brain?
And for the record, I’m not “hating”. I’m correcting your sorry ass Mr. Rooting-is-for-2plus-Year-Old-Devices. I don’t even hate you. I think it’s funny some of the outlandish BS you come up with. I then correct where you’re totally wrong, and then you either stoop to the level of a 7 year old with your insults, or change the topic to something else entirely, never admitting you’re wrong, never saying anyone else is right.
You continually call me a “loser”, a “broke bum” (which you used to be, hypocrite), a “useless college boy” and a myriad of other laughably ridiculous things, meanwhile you apparently have no education to speak of, and talk about how you’re a “real man”. Real men don’t carry on like you do with your ignorant rants and unfounded insults. You’re a joke.

  • donger

    Wow, pretty impressive feat.

    • kelly

I think Apple sold much much more. I have an iPhone 5, upgraded from iPhone 4. Its the best phone they say.

      • Jeremy Sheehan

They still have sold much more, but this means that Apple is selling much less now. The iphone5 was a flop. Apple is now cutting back on orders from their suppliers. If they want to stay extremely relevant, Apple needs to really hit it out of the park with the next major release. Otherwise, folks will start leaving in droves. I hear more and more (from the iPhone users I’m surrounded by at work) that they’re interested in looking at Android phones. The reason that 90% of them say? Bigger screens. Silly Apple, small screens are for kids!

  • redraider133

I can’t wait to see what Samsung does with the s4 and note 3. Think they could too this years sales next year as well.

  • YMS123

Congrats Sammy.I just wish some of the other manufacturers would pick up the pace.

  • Ardrid

Well, if that doesn’t convince you that Samsung is the dominant force to beat in the Android space, nothing will. Be interesting to see what the GS4 looks like. Apple should be very afraid!

    • 666

Not quite yet. Apple has sold 300+ million iPhones to date.

      • Vance

Fear of the present and future, not the past, son.

      • Richard Yarrell

Apple has been and always will be for useless customers with no real knowledge of technology. Average simpleton’s when it comes to tech. Apple is boring and dull.

        • squiddy20

I guess you’re one of those “useless customers” then since you have “no real knowledge of technology”. I mean, you can’t if you say things like:
          1. “Rooting is for 2 plus year old devices”
          2. The processor in the HTC Sensation is crappier than the one found in the “legendary” Evo 3D (despite many sources being shoved in your ignorant, grabby face proving that they are the same with exception to wireless connectivity (CDMA/GSM)).
          3. Verizon’s *low* frequency LTE doesn’t penetrate buildings well. (when in fact, it’s *high* frequencies that exhibit that quality, like Sprint’s now failed Wimax which you were “applauding” and saying great things would happen with.)
          4. You actually believe the *rumored* specs of the S4 listed on a website that has the word “concept” in it’s URL.
          5. The fact that you “know” the S4, or at least the Note 3, will have Samsung’s curved display tech, despite the fact that it’s clearly a *prototype*

You are what you accuse everyone else of being, a moron.

          • Richard Yarrell

The jobless androidandme troll has as usual chimed in with the same old tired resoonse. Your a pretty person pretty comical actually. The Samsung Moment you had on boost mobile now your crappy Galaxy Nexus on Sprint makes you feel like your a man. Oh yeah great job squiddy20 your so experienced gosh wish i was you…..NOT….Do us all a serious favor and go get a job become someone worth wild for a change. Your pretty tired and nothing more than a Internet trolling coward using phoney names. Just cowardly little bitch.

          • squiddy20

“Your a pretty person…” Awwww! Well thank you Richard! I truly appreciate it! /s
Jeez, you’d think you’d proofread the insults *before* hitting the “post comment” button…
“Oh yeah great job squiddy20 your so experienced gosh wish i was you” Says the guy who, after two months of “looking into” rooting his Galaxy Nexus, couldn’t do so. Meanwhile I had mine rooted in ~5 hours. It could’ve been less, but I had driver and initial set up issues (who doesn’t?).
“and nothing more than a Internet trolling coward using phoney names.” That’s *name – singular. I’ve only ever used squiddy20. 1 name. Not “names”. Try understanding the difference.
“The Samsung Moment you had on boost mobile” You tell me how I’m sooo inexperienced, and yet you still claim this as fact when it’s not even remotely true. The Moment was only ever sold on Sprint. No other carrier ever offered the phone. Surely someone as “experienced” as you would be able to do a quick Google search to fact check yourself?

        • Max.Steel

Dick, at one point, you thought the Evo was the best phone and Sprint was the best network. You’re hardly the bastion of wisdom.

          • Richard Yarrell

And what makes you anything important Mr . Max Steel??? In life things change and it’s pretty clear Htc hasn’t been so great collectively these past 2yrs. Grow Up my friend don’t be another asshole like squiddy20 this site doesn’t need any more people like him. Be yourself.

          • squiddy20

“Grow Up my friend” Says the guy who tells people to “piss/shit on yourself”. Yeah, reallll grown up there, Richard -_-
Also, in case you couldn’t read, he never said he was “anything important”. You’re the idiot who added that tidbit in there. Blame yourself. BTW, your A&M profile page STILL says you “Love Technology and have been a Evo 4g owner on sprint since June 4th 2010……. ” Some things just don’t change…

I wish HTC would see the brilliance in having a single hardware series like galaxy to nurture and grow into a household name. Would it be too transparent to call it the HTC Universe?

  • jamal adam

Samsung has a winning formula and it clearly shows. Congrats and its even more amazing because it doesnt include none Galaxy S series phones.

  • ionorov

Got an S for my girl, and an S2 for myself a while back. Was desperately looking to support other Android makers for our next upgrades. HTC, Moto, Sony… anyone actually. But every single one of their flagships had one or more crippling drawback. Sigh.

In the end, just got a Note-2, and the missus keeps eyeing the white S3. That’ll probably be her next :)

    They’re obviously doing something right.

  • jonstle

4 were for my family. Lol

  • CTown

Still using the orginal Galaxy S that Samsung made for T-Mobile, the Vibrant. I cannot beilieve T-Mobile was giving them on a buy one, get one free with two contracts (this was when the less powerful MyTouch 4 was T-Mobile’s flagship device). This thing still runs the latest version unlike no other single core phone of it’s time (except for the Nexus S, though the Nexus S was considered mid-range by the time it came out).

  • Richard Yarrell

Squiddy20 is useless and nothing more than an androidandme funky . The typical trolling loser who signs in as a guest cause he always has been an Internet coward. Go shit on yourself squiddy20 your nothing more than a throb.

    • Richard Yarrell

Flunky yes squiddy20 is. He will never be anything more than a trolling throb
