Rumor: Samsung to release Galaxy Note 8 at MWC

The rumor mill continues to churn out information on soon to be released products today. SamMobile, who has a very good track record with Samsung related rumors, claims they have “confirmed” a complete spec list for the unannounced Galaxy Note 8 set to be released at Mobile World Congress.

According to SamMobile, the Galaxy Note 8 will feature an 8-inch 1280×800 LCD display, 5 and 1.3-megapixel cameras, 2GB of RAM, up to 32GB of internal storage with SD expansion, a 4600mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0 and Android 4.2. With an 8-inch display, the Galaxy Note 8 will be just a hair bigger than the Nexus 7 at 211.3×136.3×7.95mm, however, it will be slightly lighter. The Galaxy Note 8 is also rumored to launch in both WiFi only and 3G capable variants. No word on LTE connectivity.

Samsung already offers a tablet that competes in the mid-range category, with the Galaxy Tab 7.7, but the Tab series has yet to see the kind of success the Note and Note II have. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has been a bit of a miss, but the Note 8 could be just what Samsung needs to revitalize the tablet branch of the Note family.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for more on the Galaxy Note 8 as Mobile World Congress gets closer.

Depending on price I will definitely look into it. Hope it has all the same app/s pen functionality as the note.

Looks like I will have to look into this myself. I’m not big on tablets yet I will definitely get the Galaxy Note 3 later this year.

Galaxy Note, Note 2, Note 8. Makes perfect sense! Wait….

    • Jon Garrett

I wish it had a higher res display

      • WlfHart

Agreed… I was really hoping that the 7-8″ form factor would sport 1080. Then I’d have my dream tablet.

thank goodness it’s not a phone lol

  • Thomas Biard

I’d love a Note 8! Also, Jelly Bean with the updated S-Pen should be spectacular. Multi-window tasks is perfect on a larger screen. I’m in for 1

How many cores? CPU? Touchwiz or Tizen?

  • heat361

It might be good smaller size with still enough screen to do work.

Any word on the processor? Any chance the 8 in the name also refers to the number of cores?

This is what I found on another web-site: “According to GLBenchmarks this tablet is going to feature a quad-core 1.6GHz Exynos 4412 CPU with a Mali 400 quad-core graphics chip” and then the article gave some of the other specs listed above.

I kind of think it should have a higher res display only because I know Apple will try and make the mini retina. I just want Android to do well in sales.

  • Joana

    Not impressed.
I already got the iPad mini.
Its a fantastic device and it was the best-selling device over holidays/christmas.
    Go iPad mini.

The only reason I haven’t ran out and gave my money to Sammy for the Note 10.1 is the resolution. If they offered Nexus 10 resolution on that bad boy, I would have one sitting on my desk at home and school. Make it happen Sammy! I want to throw money at it!
