Rumor: HTC M7 to hit AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile at launch, Verizon’s M7 gets delayed

According to one of our most trusted sources, HTC’s launch partners for the M7 include T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T. While we have seen evidence which suggests the HTC M7 is also heading to Verizon, our source claims that big red’s launch of the flagship Android device from HTC will be delayed. The reason for the delay is unknown, but Verizon is currently backing the HTC Droid DNA with a huge marketing campaign, so we doubt they would want to push it to the side to promote a device which isn’t much different from the DNA.

There are no new details available regarding the HTC M7′s retail availability in the U.S. market, but we’re hoping we won’t have to wait too long since the device is rumored to go on sale in Europe on March 8th. HTC’s February 19th press event is only two and a half weeks away, so we suspect we’ll be getting all of the official HTC M7 launch details then.

What are your thoughts on Verizon’s delayed launch of the HTC M7? Do you think they simply want to put some distance between the M7 and the DNA or do you think they are making some tweaks of their own like they did the HTC 8X?

    Verizon’s version delayed?

I’d be surprised if the Verizon version of anything wasn’t “delayed” compared to the rest of the carriers. It’s always the case.

    • http://www.jaxidian.org/update/ jaxidian

OMG I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!! NO WAY that Verizon isn’t getting theirs out on time!!!

      • Louis A

This just means one thing if you are a Verizon wireless customer that wants this phone. Don’t buy it except you want to go through the horible Galaxy Nexus experience a year or so ago.

        • shanesol

Actually I think it’s just another reason to leave Verizon if you’re still stuck to them (like myself). Less choice, and what you do get is A) heavily bloated version of Android, B) delayed compared to other similar device launches, and C) delayed software updates (if you even do get the update).

I’ll be leaving Verizon within the next couple months, just in time for this. I won’t be getting the M7, but it still feels nice to have that option.

          • LukeT32

            Root it…. probably solved.

      @alexanderharri3: Sorry! I meant to up-vote you and I sneezed, and, well… sorry… :-(

    • cj100570

Since it hasn’t even been announced, it can’t very well be delayed now can it? A delay denotes something that has had a release date announced and then it gets pushed back.

      • Vance

And a rumor denotes something that has been heard and is being shared in an unofficial capacity (please refer to the title of this post). It’s perfectly appropriate to speculate on the timeliness of each carriers’ release of a new, highly anticipated device (and is hardly unbelievable when considering Big Red’s history of tardiness).

        • romy134

Im guessing they dont want to overshadow the DNA

          • Hom0ncruse

final nail in the coffin for HTC

        • Richard Yarrell

Oh brother not you again. You sound like the kind of guy that would reason with someone trying to steal your iphone or wallet. Get over yourself the Htc M7 will not arrive on Verizon due to the conflict of sales associated with the Htc Dna. Verizon wants to secure as many sells as possible. Do i like Verizon..HELL NO….But this makes perfect sense in the real world. ”Again this is not a rumor” The Htc M7 will arrive on Verizon 90 days after the last carrier launches it’s htc m7

          • Richard Yarrell

Now where is that other troll here on androidandme @squiddy20 not that it really should matter to you since you have NEVER BEEN a Verizon customer nor can you afford Verizon. Stop pissing on yourself as often as you do. Mr . act like he knows everything do yourself a shut the fuck up asshole. You can’t afford to even purchase the Htc M7 on Sprint you have that crappy Galaxy Nexus that’s out dated and useless.

          • Richard Yarrell

Drunk Vance is pretty comical just as misinformed as dopey as that jerk @squiddy20 and snowbdr89.

          • squiddy20

“”Again this is not a rumor” The Htc M7 will arrive on Verizon 90 days after the last carrier launches it’s htc m7″ And you know this for a fact… how? Every other website that is reporting this states that it’s rumor, conjecture, or puts a question mark at the end- indicating that it is not known for certain. You’re the only idiot on here claiming rumor as fact. Just like how you “knew” the Galaxy Nexus would be out for Verizon on Nov 8, then in the middle of the month, then again later that same month, and then finally early Dec, all because the *rumors* were saying so. You don’t have a clue.
Also, since you obviously couldn’t understand what Vance was saying, let me spell it out for you. The part he put in parentheses “()” means that he believes the Verizon version will be released later than the rest. So you disagreed with him on the very thing you both agree on. Learn to read/comprehend. I know it’s tough for you, but you’ve got to try.
Thirdly, I love how you seem like you’re having a conversation with me, via your downright pitiful insults (the same ones you’ve been using for over 2 years, mind you), when I haven’t even commented until now. You really must have a screw loose in that pea sized brain of yours. Or I must really be getting to you for you to mention me before I’ve even commented. What a joke.

          • snowbdr89

Why do you even open that hole in your face?

    • Richard Yarrell
      • squiddy20

        1. Please note the third word in the title alone: “expected”. That means that it is not known with 100% certainty.
        2. Also remember that we were hearing all sorts of things about what the Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2 would/wouldn’t have, as well as what carriers would/wouldn’t provide the devices, for months before they were even officially unveiled, and most of it was incorrect. So for you to think you know it all when even the big tech blogs don’t have the whole picture is utterly hilarious and stupid.
        3. I can see by the link you posted, that you’re using the mobile version of the GSM Arena website. Surely a “pimp slapping” Note 2, with all the screen real estate it’s got, wouldn’t format it to such a watered-down Internet experience?

  • wyatt

this picture sort of looks like on screen buttons. is there any chance of that? i want a slick all screen htc phone.

    • herbivore83

While that would be nice, you can see the screen ends just above the (stupid, out of order) buttons.

  • Nate B.

it sounds more like it for verizon to do it ha-ha smh. i swear if verizon couldn’t play by the rules, then they would miss out if i made phones. one phone, same name, no bloat, on time period.

  • casualsuede

Most likely Verizon didn’t see enough difference between their DNA and M7 to take it. I mean, if it looks like DNA but has a smaller screen, why would verizon be interested in it? I mean you readers can make the argument based on rumors, but I bet Big Red made an informed decision by actually seeing the specs and product capabilities.

    • redraider133

larger battery, smaller screen but at same resolution as the dna, would provide another form factor for those who want a phone smaller than 5″ I mean it’s not that much of a difference but some may like the little smaller screen. Plus it has a newer version of sense( who knows if the DNA will get it with how htc is with updates)

  • surethom

Might be delayed because the want to install loads of bloatware????

    • herbivore83

They’re researching ways to use their logo as a watermark on the display.

      • yankeesusa

This is so funny and the sad thing is I wouldn’t put it past them.

  • TheDave

The DNA and M7 are basically the same phone, so I see Verizon’s reason for delay. I also see why HTC wants the M7 on all carriers (Samsung Galaxy S3 success). I would like to see this come to Verizon, but I would expect slightly different internals for differentiation purposes from the DNA.

  • Prince77

I was hoping to see it on Verizon, because I’m leaving Sprint. Guess I will just wait for the GS4, I will go to the Sprint Store to peep it and see what it’s all about.

    • yankeesusa

May i ask the reason your leaving sprint besides “data is too slow”?

      • wyatt

do you need another reason besides data’s too slow? i’m in NYC with a galaxy nexus. My little brother is on Long island with T-Mo running circles around me.

I gave up a wimax phone for an LTE phone and a promise. at least with wimax i was able to do 10mbps down.

      • Prince77

It’s not even about the data being slow. I live in Louisville and I am from Detroit. I checked on the Sprint website about 4G LTE service. It doesn’t show Michigan or Kentucky. I been with Sprint since the first EVO came out waiting for WiMax, 4G and now 4G LTE, haven’t experience neither one of the three, but they have been glady taking me $10 every month for the service I’ve never had a chance to use. I’m popping smoke as soon as a phone I like comes out on Verizon. I also calculated the amount of data I use a month, it’s barely over 2gb a month so I don’t mind getting a plan with Verizon, at least I will know I’ll have 4G LTE at my fingertips to use when I want to use it.

  • triangle

It wouldn’t surprise me if this phone never comes to Verizon since it’s so close to the DNA, but I guess we’ll have to see what, if anything, is much better on the M7 than the DNA. While this wouldn’t be good for HTC, they would have to have known that this would be the case after giving Verizon a carrier exclusive on a cutting edge device just a couple of months back.

  • yankeesusa

Reason the verizon version may be delayed is for them to put bloatware on it and make sure that the bootloader is locked. Either way if I got this phone it would be with sprint or tmobile only. I was frustrated that my data on sprint is so slow but after listening to a couple of peeps talking about how they forgot to stop the data on their phone so they wouldn’t hit their limit i’m glad for now I don’t have to worry about data cap.

  • redraider133

Of course verizon’s will be delayed I am sure they want to load all the bloat they can and make sure the bootloader is locked just like all their other devices. HTC should have stood up and said F you verizon we aren’t bringing this to your network unless you leave it untouched. Hopefully someday these manufacturers will have the type of leverage apple does.

  • Tico4674

Comment from Dick Yarrell bashing Verizon coming in 3,2,1….

  • renyo

Ok HTC you’ve got the distributors… Now we need some kickass marketing…

  • Kaote

If true, a cross platform release like this with a “flagship” device might just be the pill to cure HTC’s recent issues.

  • Nathan D.

    wait :-)

    • Nathan D.

Ooo wow, Google chrome beta fail. It supposed to be “Can’t wait :-)”

    • Amanda

      Wait wat.. loll :-)

  • Cruzz563

Whaaa? HTC is putting it’s flagship on ALL the carriers? Who’d a thought…/bitter

Got my Nexus 4 tho, welcome to the good life.

  • donger

Looks promising except for Verizon customers.

  • jamal adam

Perhaps, Verizon decided to delay the M7 in order to add a $15/month fee for unlocking the bootloader.

  • david

locked bootloader just like the note 2…they just dont learn

  • BigCiX

at&t can you FINALLY release jelly bean for my One X before this gets to the market!!!!!

  • Daveydog

There’s no point in releasing it on Verizon if you don’t release it right away. Galaxy s 4 will be on the shelves in may.

  • MobiCruiser

The low-budget smartphones sound better with same specs like in here..

  • Amanda

    Androids are awesome

  • shakya

  • Dylan Friedman

I can almost guarantee that this is just going to end up as a “update” to the DNA, just like a One X+ type situation.

  • roland

I just hope T-Mobile don’t get some inferior version of the m7

  • dee dee

Well the news is that the HTC M7 (the one). Is similar to HTC DNA is why Verizon is not releasing this new phone at this time. Hogwash. The M7 from reports is going to have 2 cameras one front and one back and one of those being a 13 megapixel From what I heard in the rumors. And the battery is suppose to be more powerful. More memory and RAM. Ok already its a different phone how can they call it the same. Oh and lest not forget the DNA is 5 inch and M7 is 4.5. Have u seen the DNA. If I wanted an iPad mini I would of bought one. It’s huge. I don’t want a Friggen tablet. I want a phone. I have the original HTC Droid incredible. I love it. Love the size. Ok enough preaching. Just had to say my peace.
