The HTC First, the world’s first phone to ship with Facebook Home pre-installed, is now on sale at AT&T. Available in white, black, red and pale blue, the HTC First can be purchased for $99.99 with a new two-year contract or $449.99 for those who aren’t willing to sign their life away to AT&T.
While the HTC First’s 4.3-inch 720p display, dual-core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and 5 megapixel camera are decidedly mid-range by today’s standards, the Facebook Home infused phone can actually be quite appealing to Facebook fans and Android purists.
On the surface, Facebook acts as the main user interface for the HTC First. Facebook Home takes on the duties as the default launcher, pulling in status updates from your friends and integrating Facebook messages with SMS. But if Facebook isn’t your whole life, Facebook Home can easily be turned off to reveal a surprisingly stock build of Android.
We’ll be sure to share our thoughts on the HTC First once we get our hands on a review unit. Will any of you be purchasing the HTC First?
