Jason Mackenzie to lead HTC America as HTC establishes new ‘Emerging Devices’ unit

In an internal email to HTC employees, Peter Chou announced the creation of a new “Emerging Devices” unit. This unit will be led by Mike Woodward, who has served as president of HTC America since last summer. Jason Mackenzie will take on Woodward’s old responsibilities in addition to his role as president of Global Sales at HTC.

Effective immediately, in addition to his current duties in supporting me with global corporate strategy, Jason Mackenzie will lead HTC America. Mike Woodward will lead Emerging Devices, a newly established business unit that will focus on innovative new HTC products and global distribution strategies.Peter ChouHTC

Details regarding Mike Woodward’s new role and the new Emerging Devices group at HTC are scarce. Some are speculating that HTC may be working on devices to expand into different product categories (think tablets or smartwatches). But Emerging Devices may simply be focused on future phones, as HTC plans to merge the One and Butterfly product lines in 2014.

HTC will live on, been with them since the HTC magic, and they were nothing but great for me. People will come around, they just need to spread the word. (it not that I’m a fan boy our anything, I just end up with only getting there products but you can’t go wrong with them… Most of the time anyways)

Same here.. Been them since the original HTC Evo.. I wish I got the One instead of the S4 in some ways.. But instead I get to mess with my fiancé’s HTC One. And it’s amazing…

I have had a boat load of HTC devices since my G1, but the One X, burnt me, it’s a great phone with poor battery and iffy innards. So it got replaced by the note2.

It doesn’t feel as nice, it’s a bit uglier, but has great battery and can be swapped out in extreme cases.

My Bro in law just got the HTC one, and it is lovely, If my One X worked I don’t think I’d be tempted to upgrade to it tho. I prefer the X, shame can’t use it.
