[UPDATED] HTC One hitting Verizon on August 22 for $199; packs Android 4.2.2

Verizon HTC One

After what seemed like centuries of waiting, the HTC One is finally gracing Verizon’s network on August 22. This has certainly been a long time coming with countless rumored release dates. At this point, it’s just a relief to know that it’s finally launching. The One will be priced at $199 for the 16GB model, a tad pricey considering it’s nearly five months old. A 32GB model should also be coming, presumably priced at $249.

As almost a sort of consolation prize for waiting so long, Verizon is launching the One with Android 4.2.2. That makes Verizon’s model the first stateside One to receive Android 4.2.2. No word on a blue model, though, so if that is coming, Verizon has yet to disclose it.

Are you planning to buy an HTC One on Verizon?

[UPDATE] There seems to have been a bit of confusion over pricing and storage size. Apparently, it’s the 32GB model that’s being launched on August 22. And that’s what will cost $199. Verizon has said that it can’t confirm whether or not there will be a 16GB model available. Either way, this makes the pricing a little better for what you’re getting.

Yes I have an iPhone 5 right now and have been waiting for the HTC one to come out. I’ll try and sell it by then or trade for it. Finally.

Verizon SUCKS donkey balls and so does this 6 month old battery draining Htc One. Gotta wonder what features have been stripped out of this device. Plus we all can see that classical childish branding Verizon is so famous for. This carrier is a sad conclusion…

        1. Your “pimp slapping” Note 2 is almost a whole year old. If the HTC One is old, what does that make yours?
        2. Go 20 miles outside of most major metropolitan cities, and T-Mobile signal drops to 2G/EDGE or is nonexistent, as their own coverage maps attest. And you say Verizon sucks? What a joke.
        3. What branding? The only branding I see on the render above is on the back of the phone, which every carrier, including the “ALL-MIGHTY AND AWESOME T-MOBILE”, does. Grow up or shut up.
        4. Just because you had a “piss poor experience” on Verizon over a year ago, which was limited to a 5-10 mile radius of NYC, doesn’t mean it’s the same now and everywhere else. Again, grow up or shut up.

I’ve made more money on Verizon stocks in the past several years than you will ever see in your life, soup-kitchen-boy. Perhaps you impress the vagrants with your smartphone, 1987 CRT TV, and little rented room, but none of us give a shit, than to laugh at you.

Good they are launching it with 4.2.2. Even though it is like 6 months late good those on Verizon finally have the option for it!

I am weary of HTC devices on VZW after the experience my Inc 2 not getting updates, but it is nice to see the ONE coming with the newest version. Will HTC and VZW be able to keep it up to date with keylime pie coming soon?

Soon I will have to decide between this and the X. Thoughts? I love the hardware on the HTC One (well, except for those physical buttons), but would rather have the (near) stock experience (without rooting) of the X…

You could always get the Google Play Edition of the One. It’s more expensive but the closest you’ll get to a stock experience without losing specs (if you’re a spec chaser).

        Won’t work on Verizon.

I really want the One, but the poor response of HTC to the wants and needs of their customers as it concerns updates has turned me off forever.

    Verizon’s logo must be everywhere.

I can’t believe from what I am hearing this is only being released in Silver. Where is the basic BLACK??? Waited all this time for this?

  • Jill

Verizon late to market with the One – Annoying.
Verizon late with only Silver? – Lame
Verizon late without different memory options – Hard to believe

Verizon not telling everyone what the options are – Disrespectful of Customers and new Prospects.
