The Sony Honami is getting quite a bit of attention even among US phone enthusiasts, who have little experience with Sony devices. We don’t get many Sony phones here, and those we do get are often very late to the market. Luckily, we have the Sony Xperia Z, even if it is exclusive to one carrier.
This latest leak is a teaser for the conference in Berlin, taking place on September 4th. At first, the image just looks like a purple stripe. But looking closer, it’s actually a device in purple. The power button is visible, but the edges are rounder than the Xperia Z. It looks to be the rumored Honami, which has been leaked before. And it looks like it’ll come in purple, just like the Xperia Z.
A system dump from the Honami was also leaked previously, and someone has posted a video of the software running on his Xperia Z. It looks like Sony has put quite a lot of time into the software, because it looks far better than other Sony ROMs. The animations are fancy and pleasant, the design is Holo-ish but good looking, and the camera app is feature packed. It’s probably a very early build, and modified by a ROM dev, but it still gives us a good look at what may come on the Honami.
The device is rumored to launch with a 5-inch 1080p “Triluminos” display, the X-reality engine (the successor to the Bravia engine), a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 quad core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage with a microSD slot, and the 20.7 megapixel camera with the G-lens and BIONZ image processor. And just like the Xperia Z, it’ll be dustproof and water resistant. It sounds very impressive, so we can’t wait for the announcement. What do you think of this device?
