Motorola Droid Mini, Ultra and Maxx now updating to Android 4.4 KitKat

After spreading some KitKat love to all its carrier-branded Moto X variants, Motorola today is pushing Android 4.4 out to some more of its recent hardware releases. An update to Android 4.4 KitKat is now making its way to Verizon’s Droid Mini, Ultra and Maxx, bringing with it a bump to Google’s latest mobile operating system as well as a few other goodies that are worth taking note of. Those include improved image quality with better color, exposure and dynamic range accuracy, enhanced noise reduction and an updated Droid Zap 2.0 app, which now allows the user to access it directly from the app tray.

Motorola has been on a roll with software updates lately. In the month and a half or so since Google officially launched Android 4.4 alongside the Nexus 5, Moto has pushed the new software to all versions of its Moto X and has now started updating the Verizon-specific Droid trio as well. Both are pretty impressive feats, and I’m betting that Motorola’s efforts to get Android 4.4 onto its phones in such a swift manner is winning it some love from new and old customers alike.

Verizon says that this update is rolling out in phases, so if you call one of these new Droids your daily driver and you haven’t yet received the update, just keep your eyes on your notification bar in the coming days. You can also try to manually check for your helping of KitKat by heading into Menu > Settings > About phone > System updates.

its great, i have all 3 Razr, the Razr Maxx, HD Maxx and the Maxx Ultra and i cant wait. I know the original maxx wont get it but the other two will and look at it this way, when ICS came out i waited almost a year to get it. So a few weeks is nothing. and since this update came as a surprise and was a very big secret don’t be amazed if the update for the HD is set to go and out by January

I just got it yesterday. The only thing I am having issues with is attaching files to e-mails. It does not give the option in the email set up. The options are add photo, add video? I do not have a clue.
