Samsung rumored to release a Galaxy Note 3 Lite next year at MWC

So far, Samsung’s Galaxy Note series of devices has been purely high-end. The smartphones have been cutting edge, using some of the newest technology and often outclassing the Galaxy S line. This meant that those who didn’t care for specs or didn’t have the money for a really expensive phone couldn’t have a taste of that wonderful S Pen technology. But that may change early next year.

SamMobile claims they have confirmed the existence of the Galaxy Note 3 Lite SM-N7505, which should be unveiled at MWC 2014 in February. Though none of the specs are known, it may have an LCD display instead of the Super AMOLED and feature a lower end processor and an 8MP camera, like older rumors suggested. Fortunately, it shouldn’t be smaller than 5.5-inches.

This will finally bring S Pen goodness and a large phone to those who can’t afford a full-sized Note, which is great. Hopefully it will come to the US, and maybe a carrier will pick it up a bit late like they do with the Galaxy S mini devices. Would you buy a Galaxy Note 3 Lite, or should the Note line stay exclusively high-end?

But… wouldn’t a Note 3 with toned down specs pretty much be a Note 2? Just give us a 4.4 update to the Note 2. It already has a Blazing quad core processor, 2 gigs of RAM and a 720p screen. All it needs to stay current is a software update.

Some people can’t put out true Note product money. This idea will cater to those people as well. For me it’s all about the Galaxy Note products only so I look forward to that Galaxy Note 4 in October 2014.

What are you talking about? On most carriers, the Note 3 can be had for less than $300 with a 2 year contract. Theoretically, a person earning minimum wage from just 1 job (assuming the person works exactly 40 hours a week), would make just enough money be able to get the Note 3, also assuming they don’t spend the money on something else. But of course, people have real needs like food, water, and shelter, so it would take a bit longer than that, but it’s not impossible. Do some rough math. Sad that you think a $300 phone (subsidized) is upper-class material. I’ve seen some not-well-off people with the newest smartphones.

Also, as Emagehtmal stated, a “Note 3 Lite” would basically be a Note 2, just like the iPhone 5c was pretty much a tweaked iPhone 5 with a new name and wrapped in a plastic shell. It’s totally pointless, and you have absolutely failed in making any point to the contrary. Congrats.

I thought the galaxy mega was basically a note lite?

    • Dima Aryeh

No S Pen though, that’s the issue.

The s pen is pointless in that small a device. I still have my N2 and the pen only comes out when my daughter (5) wants to draw on it. And most of the time she prefers the pen of my thinkpad x200t, which works as good.

I loved using the S Pen on my Note II, and still do on the Note 3.

I do hope they can this. They milk everything and saturate the market with to many damn devices. I like Samsung, but they need to focus on their top selling devices only.

  • redraider133

Couldn’t they just buy a note 2? I mean the note 2 is still a good device and depending how much they lessen the specs of the note 3, the note 2 may be cheaper and perform better?

I would rather have a Galaxy S4 with S Pen

      That’s a note 3 ;o)

How about a Note 3 Mini?

    • http://no stokis

      that would be galaxy s4?

Well lets hope the lite version works with the Samsung smart dock like the current Note 3 does:
