Pebble Steel unveiled with refined design, $249 price tag

Pebble Steel - Brushed Stainless Comp Keys Pilot

Because there are over 300,000 Pebbles strapped to the wrists of consumers across the globe, CES is the perfect time for the release of Pebble Steel. Like the original Pebble, Pebble Steel features the same e-paper display and 5 to 7 day battery life, but the body of the watch has been completely redesigned. Featuring CNC-machines stainless steel, the watch sports a much more refined look and feel. The watch uses an RGB LED to indicate charging status and Corning Gorilla Glass with an anti-fingerprint coating to protect its display. Pebble Steel will come in a Brushed Stainless and Black Matte finish with a matching metal band and black leather strap. Pebble Steel can be ordered now through getpebble.com for $249 with an expected ship date of January 28.

We’re extremely excited about the new Pebble Steel design. The original device always looked a bit childish (though that has not kept me from wearing it since day one). Do you think Pebble Steel will be as successful as the original Pebble?

Sweet. This is more my style. I don’t think I could go to a non metal wristband for a watch. Not a big fan of the non-metal wristbands.

Same, I’m a big fan of metal wrist bands. Especially adjustable mesh.

Them using a metal wristband made the Pebble go from “meh” to the instabuy category for me. Well, instabuy if I had the funds and didn’t have a ton of other stuff on my want list. Maybe if I can get this as a gift…

I agree. Time to sell Pebble and buy Pebble Steel. I’ll also sell a few of my other nicer watches help pay for the Steel. My wife’s been getting annoyed with my growing collection of wearable devices.

Is it just me or do you think of Blue Steel and Zoolander whenever you hear Pebble Steel? They totally need to do a tie in!

Now THIS is what I call a sexy smart watch!

Hello Pebble Steel, come to my wrist. Now this is one I would wear. Well to the Pebble team.

Looks pretty sharp! Time to save up.

It’s not a huge update but definitely an improvement in the durability and appearance of the watch http://smartwatchforiphone.com/2014/01/06/release-pebble-steel/

This is the smartwatch I can wear everyday. I didn’t like the style of the previous ones before. Also it has the same pebble functions I assume.

The link shows “Fully compatible with all Pebble apps”, so I guess so.

I can finally stop waiting for the Agent Smartwatch to be released… I also like the fact that Pebble is established in the smartwatch market…

I would totally get this. But, would much rather it came with a color screen.

    • thekaz

you’d likely be charging it every night then, no?

  • donger
