Mysterious Samsung G906S appears in benchmarks with 1440p display

Rumors have been floating around since last year about an incredibly powerful Samsung phone similar to the Galaxy S5. The rumors appeared to have died down recently, but now they’re gaining steam again. Today some fuel has been added to the fire in the form of benchmarks from GFXBench that tease a mysterious Samsung device called the “G906S” with some pretty incredible specs.

The G906S includes a 5.2-inch 2560×1440 display, quad-core 2.5GHz Qualcomm processor with Adreno 420 GPU (most likely the next-gen Snapdragon 805), 3GB of RAM, 32GB storage and a 15.8-megapixel camera. This certainly seems like a powerhouse phone, and these benchmark results are sure to spark more rumors of a “Prime” Samsung Galaxy S5 model. We’re taking the actual benchmark results with a grain of salt because they’re all over the place, as would be expected from what seems to be a very pre-release product. Still, all signs are pointing toward a powerful new Samsung device being in the works.

What do you think this device is? A Galaxy S5 variant?

Typically the Note series gets updated after the Galaxy. Maybe the Note 4?

Why would the screen size shrink from the Note 3? It is possible though.

I thought someone high up from Samsung squashed any rumors about a souped up S5?

I would think that but the screen size is much smaller in comparison from the previous model. From the rumor it has the same size as the current S5.

Haha htc, your prime m8 was fun while it lasted

The only thing this has over the M8 (and every flagship has over the M8) is the camera. A spec bump in a screen has no real world use in how it makes your phone better. Clocked higher but what we have is more then enough. That’s like asking for a faster phone to only utilize it the same way you’re using your phone now. This requires a faster one fortune screen so it really balances it out. All the other specs are pretty much the same as the S5. I would imagine the screen and the battery being bumped. That’s not major for these specs. Sweet, but not major. I can see the ball dropping if it had a horrible design like Samsung plagued the S5 with.

Could be a note 4 but then why would an upgraded note still have a 3gb RAM? Definitely the intended S5 cos the recently released “s5″, is nothing to write home about. I don’t know why Samsung of all phone giants would bring such a joke out. What’s most mediocre about it is the so called ‘heart rate monitor’ really? And a fingerprint scanner. I believe in being best at what you do and not being a joke.

      Plus smaller screen.

If they ship and updated s5,allxthey are going to do is piss off the hardcore Sammy fans that rushed out to get the origanal S5.

I just don’t understand these tack ticks. Any s3 owner will be happy with their new s5, when ever they get it, between now and 10months time. Sammy don’t need a slightly better one.

The one advantage to an iPhone is you get a full year of smugness, Android fans have it tough because of other android manufacturers with out your own making it worse.

Maybe this is the F series that was rumored to be coming this year? Screen size seems a little small to be the note line, but samsung has done stranger things in the past.
