Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z to get KitKat in May

After previously teasing that Android 4.4 would be pushed to the Xperia Z, ZLZR and Tablet Z in the middle of the second quarter, Sony today shared a slightly more precise timeframe in which we should see those updates arrive.

On its official update pages for the Xperia ZZLZR and Tablet Z, Sony has revealed that it plans to begin rolling Android 4.4 KitKat out to the four devices in May. The exact start date of the upgrades aren’t yet known.

While Sony’s new May timeframe for its Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z KitKat rollout isn’t as precise as I’m sure users would like, it’s certainly better than the vague window that Sony offered last month. Plus, it means that owners of the Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z are only a month or so away from sinking their teeth into a KitKat treat. Get excited!

I hope the Z1S gets updated as well. If I dont get 4.4 by Mid August I will likely JUMP to a different company’s phone.

I actually just jumped back from the Z1s to the Z1 because the Z1s was too big, and wasn’t enough of an upgrade in features or screen size. Will be nice to get KitKat first (I got to have/play with the Nexus 5 for a day in between until I realized it didn’t have T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling).
