Specs for the Galaxy S5 mini leak, look better than S4 mini

Last year’s Galaxy S4 mini was something of a disappointment to the tech world, especially because HTC released a better mini device around the same time. Samsung’s apparently having another go this year with the Galaxy S5 mini, and it’s looking to improve on some of the faults of the S4 mini. SamMobile got their hands on the the leaked specs for the S5 mini, and they go like this:

  • 4.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display
  • Snapdragon processor (likely the quad-core Snapdragon 400)
  • 1.5GB RAM
  • 8-megapixel rear camera
  • 2-megapixel front-facing camera
  • 16GB storage
  • 2,100mAh battery
  • Android 4.4 KitKat
  • IR blaster

SamMobile expects the Galaxy S5 mini to be water-resistant, just like its big brother, but it’s unknown if the Galaxy S5′s numerous sensors will be included as well. No hard pricing or availability information is available yet, but some rumors have pegged the S5 mini for a June release. We’re happy to see that the S5 mini’s spec sheet isn’t quite as disappointing this year, and including Samsung’s decision to replace last year’s qHD screen with a 720p display.

What are your thoughts on the Galaxy S5 mini?

Im sorry but 16GB on any phone other than the basic is terrible, 32gb must be the minimum, memory is so cheap nowadays, 16gb will be filled within a few months.

I have a 32GB HTC One, and I’m barely over 10GB filled. Almost a year.

At least they didn’t skimp on the screen. I’d like to see a 4.3″ phone again.

I really wish someone would release a phone this size (or slightly smaller) with a top end processor and large battery. My Nexus 4 can barely make it until dinner time on a single charge, much less all day.
