HTC One mini 2 struts its stuff in leaked render

Now that the HTC One (M8) is on store shelves, many have turned their attention to the next major device that HTC is expected to crank out, the HTC One mini 2. HTC hasn’t made any official announcements regarding a shrunken version of the One (M8), but thanks to the rumor mill, we don’t have to wait for Peter Chou and Co. to get on stage to get a look at the One mini 2.

An image that purportedly shows off the HTC One mini 2 in gray, silver and gold has been posted by @evleaks. The render shows a smartphone with a design that’s extremely similar to the One (M8), but there are a few big differences that are worth pointing out. For example, the One mini 2 lacks the Duo Camera setup of its big sibling, and it also only has a single LED flash compared to the dual LED flash of the One (M8). The One mini 2 also appears to have a plastic rim around the outer edge of its face, similar to the original One mini.

No spec details for the HTC One mini 2 are included in today’s leak, but a previous rumor claimed that the “HTC M8 mini” would feature a 4.5-inch 720p display, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and Android 4.4.2 with Sense 6. While those features can’t quite hold a candle to those found in the flagship One (M8), the One mini 2 could still be a respectable option for those folks that want a One (M8)-like design in a smaller package.

Now that we’re getting a good look at the HTC One mini 2, what do you all think of it? Anyone looking forward to this thing hitting the market?

Looks pretty nice but for whatever they’ll be asking, why wouldn’t you buy the HTC One m7? I bet it will be similar or less dollars. And if the m8 mini follows the style of the bigger model, it won’t be much smaller than a full sized m7. Then (based on the rumours) you’ll get superior specs in just about everything – resolution, processor, chipset … And personally, I prefer the m7 design. The new one doesn’t feel as special to hold or behold, IMO. The m7 is selling for $519 where I live. The m8 mini would have to be significantly cheaper to be similar value.

I loved my HTC Evo shift for the way it fit in my relatively small female hand. I want the performance and features of the M8 in a similar size.

Everyone in this chat who is considering to buy this should just stop now. Why get a mini version of the M8 with those specs when you can get the HTC One M8 Ace Vogue Edition. It has better specs than the HTC One Mini. The only thing is that is has a single camera in the rear and that the the body is from plastic. Don’t fret because you will probably put a case to protect your high end phone. It has a 4.7 inch screen with a quad core processor. Same graphics and pixels as M8. Snapdragon 801 processor and clocks at 2.5 Ghz. 2gb of RAm is available and most importanntly the price is quite cheap and affordable off contract at 480$. The choice is yours my friends. I’m only 14 and I have already managed to save $200 in one year and I’m getting another $100 from selling old elctronics. So be like me!
