T-Mobile HTC One (M8) receiving Extreme Power Saving mode, One (M7) getting Sense 6

HTC’s kept pretty busy lately updating its One family of devices with new features, treating the Developer Edition and unlocked versions of the One (M7) to Sense 6 and giving AT&T’s One (M8) variant an Extreme Power Saving mode. Now it’s time for T-Mobile One users to get in on the fun.

T-Mobile has announced that it’s now rolling out updates to its versions of both the HTC One (M8) and One (M7). Owners of the One (M8) can expect a maintenance update that includes improvements to battery life, audio quality and Wi-Fi performance, as well as the aforementioned Extreme Power Saving mode. This update bumps the T-Mo One (M8) to software version 1.57.531.7.

Meanwhile, owners of the Magenta-flavored HTC One (M7) are now receiving a 695MB update that includes HTC’s new Sense 6 user interface. Once its installed, One (M7) users will be on software version 5.14.531.1.

If you’re rocking one of HTC’s flagship One devices as your daily driver, you can hit up Settings > About > Software updates to manually check for your device’s update. Be sure to give us a shout once you’ve updated!

As soon as I read the article I updated right away. Fast install, no visual differences right off the bat; but obviously this is more under the hood type tweaks.

Wow.. I love the new update. I was up for awhile reading and getting use to it. The camera is a whole new toy. You can now do so much more. The layout is great. Thank you T-Mobile. And most of all thank you HTC. Now I’m not in such a rush to get the m-8. This is awesome. Why spend all that extra money… I know . I will .. Looking forward to the m-8. Thanks.

The HTC One M8 is challenged with stealing the title of ‘best smartphone’ from the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Apple iPhone 5. With a new design, high end materials and the latest technology it looks to be a winning package.

The battery life is a whole lot better with the update on the M7. My phone finally lasts longer than 12 hours. The update did change the ringtones for calls and notifications, so I was forced to change to a new ringtone :( The lock screen is easier to unlock, I don’t have to start from the bottom of the screen and swipe up, I can swipe from anywhere.

I updated my M7 to sense 6 but instead of having 5 rows of icons I now have 4. Anyone know if there is a way to change this?

You can change the app drawer rows to 5. In the app drawer, tap the menu button (3 dots). I don’t think you can change the home screens to 5 without root and custom ROM.

The updates are phenomenal! Love the new interface- ability to change color themes, on screen font, etc. Gone are the annoying black bar at the bottom of the screen and off of the app tray! BlinkFeed is now much smoother. The camera features are much easier to use and more intuitive. Sense6 makes the user experience so much better. The only let down was the absence of the knock-on feature that I would have liked.
    Thank you HTC and Tmobile!!!
