HTC One M7 and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play edition now receiving Android 4.4.3

Yesterday, Google released all the factory images for Nexus devices for the latest version of Android, 4.4.3. A surprising amount of Nexus devices received support from the get go, which is awesome. But it looks like support is going beyond Nexus devices, as people are reporting getting the over-the-air update on the HTC One (M7) and Galaxy S4 Google Play edition devices.

Though these updates are not completely reliant on Google, it looks like both HTC and Samsung worked very hard to push this update out as fast as possible. Only a day has passed, meaning that these Google Play edition devices don’t lag behind. HTC has even published the source code for both the M7 and M8 GPe devices.

We’re happy to see Google Play edition devices being supported well, especially older ones like this. Though Android 4.4.3 isn’t a very big update, it’s still nice to have. Hopefully the rest of the GPe devices will get the update as well. If you own a GPe device, tell us when you receive your 4.4.3 update in the comments!

I was going to get the one plus one because of how bad sense and touch wiz are, but this is a great way to get great hardware and not have to worry about sense and touch wiz lag and memory waste.

Older ones, really? The M7 and S4 are one year old, and the M8 is new.

Exactly. Older, as in more old than something else. The M7 and S4 are older, I didn’t call them old.

Depends, is ur device a Google Play Edition or standard Touchwiz based? If it is Touchwiz based then the only real way to get it, if u get it at all is to wait, or root ur device when devs work 4.4.3 into the custom Roms out there.

I have Galaxy S4 from last 1 year and recently get the notification of update under notification bar. Well, once I fully charged my phone on wireless charging pad, I will definitely update this version to explore more apps and features. I drop down the idea of purchasing Galaxy S5.
