Rumor: ASUS working on Android Wear smartwatch focused on pricing

The ASUS manufactured Nexus 7 is a great tablet by any measure, but factor in the affordable price and it’s absolutely fantastic. This fall, ASUS will be taking a similar approach to its first Android Wear device.

According to a rumor out of TechCrunch, ASUS is working on an Android Wear powered smartwatch with a price tag between $99 and $149. No specs on the device were mentioned, but TechCrunch’s anonymous source is saying it will launch with an AMOLED display in September of this year. If ASUS is able to pull off the $99 price, that would place it at exactly half of what the Samsung Gear Live costs now.

As mentioned above, ASUS has a knack for making excellent products at every price range. We expect a $99 smartwatch probably won’t come with things like a heart rate monitor but for something basic we hope ASUS knocks it out of the park. We’ll be on the lookout for more on ASUS’ Android Wear powered smartwatch over the coming months.

    I love competition =)

This very good quality brands like Asus, Huawei, BLU, Lenovo, etc brands do a great job at offering low-mid price devices with very good specs and give us a lot of diversity/options.
