Verizon and Google working to fix things for Chromebook Pixel owners midst data confusion

Chromebook Pixel

If you’ve been following the Chromebook news lately, you may have seen a thing or two about Verizon and Chromebook Pixel owners. What went down was that Chromebook Pixel owners who purchased the LTE model were promised 100MB of free Verizon data every month for 2 years. Well, about a year into things, some Pixel owners began to notice that their free data had disappeared. They went running up in arms to Google about it, and in an attempt to alleviate customers, Google promised Pixel owners a $150 Visa gift card to help make things right.

But it looks as though big, bad Verizon wasn’t purposely trying to hurt customers. Rather, it was a system mishap that caused some users to lose their free data. Here’s what a Verizon spokesperson had to say on the matter:

We do understand that a very small number of Chromebook Pixel customers may have had a promo end prematurely. We apologize for this, and will work with these customers to address the situation.Debra LewisVerizon Wireless

As it seems now, Verizon is getting in touch with affected owners to fix the issue and get them their 100MB of free data back. What we don’t know is if Google will still give out the $150 gift cards to owners who struggled with the issue. We’ll have to wait and see how it all pans out. Nonetheless, we’re glad to see Verizon and Google both being so proactive in their responses to customers who were hit by the issue.

Have you ever been affected by a system error like this one?
