LG G3 Cat.6 officially announced with Snapdragon 805 processor

LG G3 Cat.6

While taking a page out of Samsung’s book isn’t a rare occurrence for LG, it looks like releasing higher end versions of high end flagships is becoming a trend. With the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5, Samsung released updated versions exclusive to South Korea with LTE-Advanced, newer processors, and a better display in the case of the S5.

It looks like LG is pulling a similar move with the new LG G3. Despite the phone still being very new and only having been released in the US for a few weeks, LG has announced an updated version for South Korea. The LG G3 Cat.6 features a Snapdragon 805 processor and category 6 LTE, besting the category 4 support found in the standard model. There’s also 3GB of RAM with this one.

The LG G3 Cat.6 won’t be coming to the US, as it’s predictably an exclusive to South Korea, so you won’t have to worry about your new G3 being outdated just yet. Still, this is a very weight trend to release a better version of the flagship in Korea. Despite the Snapdragon 801 being a solid processor, an 805 sounds awfully nice. What do you think of this new trend? Leave a comment!

I love spending 700 one week to learn something better is coming out. I really don’t notice any difference from a note 2 to an s5 but they say they are faster just not to the human eye I guess

A phone with the Snapdragon 805 is more likely to be able utilize in a US version T-Mobile’s upcoming roll-out of its 700 MHz (band 12) spectrum which will work much better in buildings. Also the 805 will aggregate bands better so no matter which provider you have, you should have better performance. Further for the LG G3, the 805 is optimized for the Quad HD display.

Why should be the 805 more likely to be able to support 700MHz?

The HTC One (M8) with 801 supports allready 700MHz LTE on T-Mo.

That’s more a question of appropriate antennas than the SoC.

Smartphones have grown to become very popular over the years and one company that does it all to give you the best is the LG. No doubt it is one of the biggest mobile maker of the world and many users respected theirs models.

The launch of LG G3 and 3 months old Galaxy S5 is the biggest competition in between two South Korean tech giants. LG G3 has 5.5 inch display and come with two variant of 16/32 GB internal storage with 2/3GB RAM and common 3000mAh battery that after fully charged on qi wireless charger, runs all day long. Whereas, Galaxy S5 come with water resistant body and 2800mAh battery with power saving mode that also after fully charged on wireless charging pad, runs all day long with normal use. So who is gone be the winner pretty tough to decide.
