Samsung Gear VR headset photographed ahead of September debut

During the past month or so, we’ve gotten a look at Samsung’s rumored virtual reality headset in render form and we’ve also gotten an early peek at the Gear VR manager app. You know what’s better than both of those leaks, though? A photo of the actual hardware.

That’s precisely what The Verge has supplied today, as a source has shared a photo of what’s said to be the Samsung Gear VR in the wild. The unit is reportedly codenamed “Project Moonlight” and boasts dual lenses, a focus dial and a microUSB port that’s used to hook the headset up to a smartphone that would work as the headset’s display.

Samsung’s Gear VR is expected to debut on September 3 at the same event that the Galaxy Note 4 will likely be announced. It’s not yet known how much this thing will cost when it finally lands on consumers’ heads, but since it doesn’t have a dedicated screen, hopefully it’ll be easy on the wallet so that lots of folks can give it a try.

The Virtual Reality headset, The Galaxy Gear 2 Solo Wrist communicator, and the Galaxy Note 4 another great year for the world’s best manufacturer period.

The Samsung Gear is a cross between the all-metal look of the Pebble Steel and the plastic of the Sony SmartWatch 2. It is one of the best on the market and can be considered as life best partner when traveling.

I have such a hard time when people say that the galaxy line is so great. Sure its ok but the cheapness of the materials used is horrible. Samsung makes awesome audio/video equipment but that’s about it. The galaxy line of phones has reached snob status equal to that of the iPhone. Over priced crap designed for people that like to pay for a name and the status they achieve from their friends. Nobody cares.
