Sony announces the mid-range waterproof Xperia M2 Aqua

As the mid and low-ends of the smartphone market become saturated with well-performing, well-designed and impressively affordable handsets, manufacturers are going to need something to set their products apart from the competition. Sony is taking the durability route with the mid-range, waterproof Xperia M2 Aqua.

Coming with a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400, Adreno 305, 4.8-inch qHD display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, 8-megapixel Exmor RS camera and 2330 mAh battery, the Xperia M2 Aqua is IP65/68 rated to withstand water up to 1.5 meters deep for up to 30 minutes and is dust proof to boot.

As touched on in the opening paragraph, without the enhanced durability of the M2 Aqua, it would be just another mid-range face in the crowd. Sony has a history of bringing their best to every one of their product lines. They did it with the smaller high-end Xperia Compact series of devices, and they’re doing the same with the Xperia M2 Aqua. Sony has detailed the M2 Aqua as coming in black or white this fall to Latin America, Asia Pacific and Europe. We’ll provide you with more availability details as they’re made available.

Moto G for $179 ($170 Amazon), Moto E (waterproof) for $129. If they price this 8GB storage phone above $200 then is meh.
