ASUS reveals ZenWatch name for its smartwatch in new video teaser

ASUS is expected to unveil its Android Wear smartwatch on September 3, but before then the company plans to build up as much hype as it can with multiple teasers.

The latest teaser for ASUS’s smartwatch is a video that offers several quick glimpses at the hardware itself. We also finally learn the name of the upcoming wearable: ZenWatch.

The concrete spec details of ASUS’s ZenWatch are still unknown, but the devices seem to show a squarish face with rounded edges, a leather band and a brushed metal or faux metal body. We’ve already gotten peeks at Android Wear offerings from Samsung, LG and Motorola, so it’ll be interesting to see how ASUS differentiates its Android Wear device from the others that are currently available or will be soon.

If the differentiation is that it is an Android Wear device that costs $99 as rumored, I’m sold. I don’t need fancy heart rate monitors, or even for it to be all that pretty. All I want is basic AW functions and 8AM-11PM battery life. If they can do that for $99, or maybe $150, I will get one.

Let’s see what ASUS have to offered; wearable is becoming a hot market especially with the Apple iWatch looming in the horizon.

Hope the specs are not disappointing

I want camera, Bluetooth, decent battery life, text messenger app, health monitoring, etc
