HTC smartwatch may not be dead after all, launch slated for early next year

Earlier this year, HTC was announced as an Android Wear partner, getting us all excited to see a smartwatch from Peter Chou and Co. Then our excitement was squashed by a rumor that claimed that the device had been given the axe by HTC. Now it looks like that actually may not have happened.

A new report from CNET says that HTC’s smartwatch is still in the works and that it’s expected to launch in early 2015. There aren’t any details on the specs of the device in today’s leak, but the report does say that HTC wants its wearable to stand out and that it’s hoping to achieve this task with strong design and consumer-friendly features.

More competition and more choices for consumers are both awesome things, so it’s great to hear that HTC’s smartwatch may still happen. And considering that HTC has received quite a bit of praise for its smartphone designs in the past, we’re interested to see what kind of wearable hardware HTC can produce.
