Kovdev releases his first circular icon pack, Audax

audax_icon_pack_screenshot2One of the top icon themers out there in the Android community, Dave Kover, better known as kovdev, has just released a brand spanking new icon pack for all of us to enjoy. If you’re not familiar with kovdev as an icon themer, you’re probably familiar with his work. Kovdev icon packs are regularly at the top of the most popular paid personalization apps in the Google Play store with packs like Lumos, Stark, and Nox.

Kovdev has often been the trendsetter with many of his icon themes with long shadows or minimalist flat styling. This time around, kovdev has brought us a new flavor of circular icons which is a shape he’s never tackled before. As the themer puts it, “With Audax, we’ve taken some great design cues and combined them into a finished product which pops off your device’s display. With just a hint of 3D on the base, the icons bring a new dimensionality to your home screens.”

As can be seen in the included screenshots with the post (one of them being my own),  the Audax circular icons offer a bright and uniform look that can definitely pop off of different wallpaper colors, dark or light. As for icon uniformity, circular icons offer the best shape in terms of masking in my opinion.Audax_icon_pack_screenshot1 If you’re not familiar with the term masking, icon masks are what themers use to alter non-themed icons so that your homes creen appears neat and uniform. They may apply a different background color and/or cut the default icon a bit so it’ll look mostly like the rest. Audax off the bat comes with a whopping 2000+ themed icons. So, I wouldn’t worry much about many non-themed icons, but the masking is good for what it’s worth.

Lastly, and I feel silly saying it, but I think the wallpapers Audax offers is probably one of my favorite parts about this pack. Kovdev enlisted some fantastic artists such as Valiant Pixels and Jacek Malinowski and they delivered. I’d buy Audax just for the walls. They’re beautiful. And there are over 30 of them.

Audax is available from the Google Play store immediately for kovdev’s usual price of $1.99. It’s compatible with most of the popular launchers out there. If you’re not familiar with custom launchers and how to apply custom icon packs, take a look at our Make your Android device yours series and check out the custom launcher and icon pack posts. Let us know your thoughts on Audax and share your screenshots in the comments below!

Just wanted to say to keep these suggestions coming. This icon pack looks awesome.

I had the KooGoo icon pack which I believe you also recommended in one of your articles. This one pops just a little bit more and I like the selection of wallpapers.
