Most Android users are probably pretty big Gmail users as well. But there are likely some folks out there that use non-Gmail services in addition to their Google account, and if a new leak is to be believed, they’ll be getting a nice surprise in the next major Gmail for Android update.
The Gmail for Android 5.0 update has been leaked by Android Police, showing a Material Design makeover that includes round avatars and a cleaned up Compose screen. Interestingly, the app also shows support for non-Gmail services Yahoo and Outlook, allowing the user to jump to those accounts from the Gmail app’s slide out menu.
Other details on this update, like exactly which non-Gmail services will be supported, are light. Today’s news is still exciting, though, because it means that users will need fewer apps and fewer taps for accessing their non-Gmail accounts.
