Google tries to pick a name in new Android L tease

Android L Teaser

Google has released a new video teasing the name of Android L. This latest addition continues to fuel the Nexus and Android fire that’s hitting the Internet right now. In the video, Google has a casting call with all sorts of different desserts that start with the letter L trying out for the honor of being the name of Android L. Throughout the video we see Licorice, Lemon Meringue Pie, Lava Cake, Lady Fingers and more, with one notable exception: Lollipop.

The video also shows that Android L will be Android 5.0, confirming the large jump that we’ve all expected. The video doesn’t give us much information, but the fact that it released today makes it even more likely that Android L and the new Nexus devices will launch tomorrow.

What are your thoughts on these rumors and leaks?

I think it’s so cool that they can be so open like this. What other company has a personality like this?

I’m with you @BlakeHN! I would MUCH rather Android 5 be named Lollipop than any of the others, but Licorice is my second choice. I don’t think the other 3 options would sound right, but Lava Cakes would be my choice if Google insisted L have more than 1 word. In my opinion, LC has a better ring to it than either LMP or LF…..
I completely agree @Nate P! Most companies would never consider allowing their users to cast opinions for the name! Not only that but the name for L would have been decided immediately after releasing K, not immediately before releasing L.

The whole making convention is become a joke, 5 is fine.

The only reason to keep it secret is if they have a KitKat like deal.

Wow, seriously?!?! You must be a long time Apple user who recently switched to Android and have already spent a lot of money in the App Store. Either that, or Android was your first smart phone, you haven’t used it long, you’ve never used an Apple device before, and you know very little about IOS(Apple’s operating system).

That was meant for the comment from SJ below yours, not you!! My apologies.

Headline writers are already preparing the “lollipop sucks” headlines should they want to use them. I still find it ironic that Apple is giving consumers more screen size choice than Google. A Nexus at 5.9 with no smaller option is a deal breaker. Have to decide if Nexus 5 poor camera is enough for another year or make the iPhone 6 jump now. I can’t carry a ginormous phone every dsy
