Samsung teases Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Galaxy Note 4

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop teaser

Samsung has generally kept its devices up to date, though at a pace many of us would not consider fast. After Motorola changed the game by updating many of its new devices within weeks of an Android release, waiting months for an update just seems wrong. Hopefully Samsung will step up its game.

Samsung has teased Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Galaxy Note 4 on Twitter. Though the company did not directly mention the new version of Android, the posted graphic is pretty self explanatory. Unfortunately, this also means that we don’t have any sort of timeline for the update, not even a cryptic “soon.”

I’m excited for Samsung to start updating its current and previous devices to Lollipop. Samsung has been good about updating older devices in the past, so I expect this year to be no different. Are you looking forward to Lollipop on your device? Or will this be your incentive to get the Note 4? Leave a comment!

I’m sticking with the Note 3 so hopefully Samsung updates it soon. Ever since updating to 4.4.2 my battery has been draining quickly. Goes from fully charged to 92% within 30 minutes. Hoping for a fix for that finally, because this phone lasted an entire day even with heavy use before needing to recharge.

Yep. Same thing happened to me with my Note 3. It got terrific battery life initially, and after the upgrade to 4.4, battery life was terrible. Ive had my Note 4 for 2 days now and battery life has been fantastic so far. Hopefully, history doesn’t repeat itself when the Android 5.0 upgrade takes place in weeks to come.

Out with the old in with the new that’s every year for me without fail.

The Galaxy Note 4 on Android 4.4.4 is kool but it will see Android 5.0 Lollipop before December 31st 2014.

The current Galaxy Note 3 will see Android 4.4.4 first then the Android 5.0 Lollipop update by March 2015.

Care to back up your claim of Dec 31st? Having scoured the internet I can’t find a single reference to an actual date for the Note 4 receiving Lollipop.

However if it is true, enjoy your 2 month wait, I will be on Lollipop on Nov 3rd. ;)

I heard the note 4 only has USB 2.0 as opposed to the Note 3′s USB 3.0, meaning it won’t transfer or charge as fast. Is this true and what’s up with that?

    • r3z0

USB 3.0 is experimental on the Note 3. My constantly fails transfers too. Stick to 2.0 until 3 is properly intergrated. The Note 4 has fast charge, so no it will be quicker to fill up than the note 3.

The micro USB 3.0 cable confused a lot of consumers. It shouldn’t have, but it did. So Samsung stopped using that connector and went back to one people recognize better. Yes, that means transfer via cable is slower. On the other hand, however, wireless networking on the Note 4 now includes 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, AND dual-band, so the network is the way to go for copying data to and from.

With regards to charging, the Note 4 has a special fast charge mode and a special charger that comes with it to support the special mode. I haven’t clocked it, but Samsung claims it will go from 0 to 50% in 30 minutes. From what I have seen, that isn’t a bogus claim.

I just wish that they would start giving us more options to customize. I HATE that the dialer screen AND ALL the menu screens are white on my Note 4. WHY? Bc iPhone is?! I don’t want to copy them. They suck. AND white backgrounds use more battery pwr unnecessarily too. At LEAST give US the choice of what color we want our menu screens Samsung!
