Unboxing the Nexus 9

Android tablets are a dime a dozen these days, but there are only a few that are really worth your time and money. Google is hoping that the new Nexus 9 is one of them. The $400 Android tablet has an unconventional 8.9-inch 1536 x 2048 display with a 4:3 aspect ratio that’s closer to that of an iPad than the 16:9 aspect ratio we’ve traditionally seen on Nexus tablets. Google is also testing the water with a Nvidia’s 64-bit Tegra K1 chip since Android 5.0 includes native 64-bit support.

The Nexus 9 will make its official retail debut on November 3, but our review unit showed up a few days early. The software build on the Nexus 9 we have still isn’t final, so we thought we’d share a quick unboxing video for now. Expect our full review in the next week or two.

Can you please check if this device supports slimport? I would love to have some method of video out so that I can use it for presentations. Thanks!

Does the Nexus 9 have a notification LED?

    • Nick Gray

It does have a notification LED. However, I have not seen it flash yet. The tablet isn’t running final software at the moment, so it may be enabled once it receives an update.

Can you expand the memory via SD card?

    • John

No. Which is a pain considering how much more expensive the 32GB model is. A extra £80 for an extra 16GB?

What is the output from the wall charger? I would like to order a dual outlet wall charger while I still have Prime but my N9 is back-ordered.
