Android 5.0 Lollipop now rolling out to the new Moto X and Moto G

Good news, everyone! The public Android 5.0 rollouts have officially begun!

Motorola is now pushing Android 5.0 to three devices: the Moto X (2nd Gen.), the Moto G (2nd Gen.) U.S. GSM and the Moto G (2nd Gen.) Global GSM versions being sold in the U.S. As is usually the case with over the air updates, these Lollipop treats are rolling out in phases.

Unsurprisingly, Motorola has stuck to a mostly vanilla Android 5.0 build with its Lollipop updates. That means that you’re getting a Material Design look and feel. Also included are new “Downtime” and “Interruption” settings for determining when you want notifications to come in, Guest Mode, a flashlight in Quick Setting and a battery saver mode.

Motorola showed with the original Moto X and Moto G that it can be super fast about pushing Android updates to its devices. It’s awesome to see that that’s continuing with the new Moto X and Moto G models and Android 5.0. Here’s to hoping that the OG Moto X and Moto G get Lollipop soon too.

This is good for Motorola owners but crap for Nexus 5 owners like me. I cant believe Google have not released Android 5.0 for nexus devices yet still allowing the roll out for other makes.

So much for getting updates first!
