Google confirms Android 5.0 Lollipop rollout has begun

It wasn’t exactly a secret at this point with Motorola pushing updates for the Moto X and Moto G with the Sprint Nexus 5 hot on their heels.

Regardless, it’s good to see word come down from the mothership that things are all proceeding to plan.

Not surprisingly, Google sticks to identifying that “most Nexus devices” will be receiving the update soon. But again, as exhibited by the Moto X and G, they aren’t the only beneficiaries of a fast rollout. We also know that NVIDIA will be updating the SHIELD Tablet to Lollipop within the next couple weeks and LG is pushing 5.0 to the G3 sometime this week.

If any of you have already received the update, we’d love to hear how it went in comments.

Nexus factory images can be found here. Nexus 7 cellular and Nexus 4 are the notable exceptions from the list.

And if you need a refresher on what to expect from Lollipop¬†or are looking at a slightly longer wait for the update don’t forget that you can check out Google’s¬†updated Quick Start Guide for some details.
