Google creates Inbox Happy Hour to give out invites

Inbox

Looking to score an Inbox invite? Google has a new way for you to get one without having to awkwardly ask someone for an invite. Today from 3-4PM PST, Google is hosting Inbox Happy Hour, where anyone can email [email protected] to get an Inbox invite for themselves. Once you send the email, you’ll get your invite link sent to you by 5PM PST.

Inbox is Google’s next step to email that includes smart bundling, reminders and intuitive information based on your email history. The service is currently in beta and is available to Android users, and there’s a web version available as well. While Inbox has been invite only through initially selected beta testers, Google is now opening it up to everybody for this single hour. If you haven’t received an invite yet, Inbox Happy Hour is the time to get one!

I don’t ever see posts like this until wayyy after it’s over.

This post was created 20 minutes ago. At how many hours/minutes after the creation of this post is the Happy Hour?

  • BlazeHN

    It’s live right NOW

  • Tritaru

    It’s not over yet, (;
It still has 45 minutes to go. Its 3:15 PST right now. (Unless you meant you *usually* don’t. In which case just ignore that I said this)

Did anyone actually get an invite?

    • Bubba

      Nope.

Inbox’s twitter feed shows they are bogged down by volume with an ETA of 6pm PT for all the invites to be sent.

  • captdago

I requested about 12 minutes after the start and the only thing I’ve received is a form reply that they’d get to me soon.

an important point not mentioned is that this is only for Gmail addresses, and not Google Apps accounts. Once again, Google Apps users are second class citizens.

I received my invite minutes ago.

I had submitted my request for the invite and did not notice mine was stuck in my outbox till 7:45 pm. Oh what luck that my Gmail just happen to lock up till after the witching hour… Thanks. :-)

I applied for this a week or so ago. Got an email saying I’d receive an invite as soon as they became available. I still haven’t got one but they do this…..

Got my invite. Downloaded the app and love the look. The material design looks great, Now reminders are a great feature, and the peek-a-boo clips of “important” emails are nice. Biggest con for me, 4 times the size of Gmail.

This is just shit, instead of a happy hour why not send out invite to the people still waiting from day one.

I’ve not 3 requests and got sod all from them!

    • SGB101

My point is still valid BUT straight after my rant I went and try it to login to inbox and it let me in.

Hay Google have you heard of Gmail, drop me a line and let me know it’s live next time ;o)

  • Danny

I sent a request during the happy hour and never got the invite.
