Google Drive app update will let you search files with “Ok Google” hotword

Heads up, Google Drive users, because you’ve got a spiffy new update headed your way!

Google announced today that it’s going to roll out an update to Google Drive for Android with a pair of new features. First is the ability to search for folders in the Google app using the hotword “Ok Google.” For example, you could say “Ok Google, search for photos on Drive” to look for photos in your Google Drive without actually opening up the app.

Additionally, Google says that you’ll be able to access and share custom maps that you make in Google My Maps.

While opening up the Google Drive app and searching for a file in it isn’t exactly difficult, being able to use your voice to search from the Google app is pretty awesome. Google says that this updated version of Drive will roll out “over the next week,” so keep an eye out for it.
