Nexus 5 Android 5.0.1 update due today, claims Sprint

Remember earlier this month when Google made Android 5.0.1 available to the Nexus 4 and Nexus 6, but skipped over the Nexus 5? Well according to Sprint, the N5 will finally get its fresh Lollipop treat today.

Sprint’s Nexus 5 support page says that the Nexus 5 will be updated to build LRX22C today, December 15. That build is the same one that was released for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 6 recently, so that means that the Nexus 5 ought to get its Android 5.0.1 update today. Sprint says that the update brings “miscellaneous Android updates.”

It’s kind of strange that the aging Nexus 4 got its Android 5.0.1 update before the Nexus 5, but if Sprint’s announcement proves accurate, you Nexus 5 folk will be enjoying your own taste of Android 5.0.1 soon. Be sure to give us a shout when the update hits your Nexus 5!

i got tired of waiting for 5.0.. i switched to Iphone 6+. i had a pre-pay phone, and they are last ones to get android updates if at all. i still love android, but IOS updates are so much better because all iphones get them at once.

I’m not going to disagree completely with this statement. Android needs to get better at updating, was hoping for better with a developer preview being released in June. But still just like it was last year, it is only Nexus, GPe and Moto devices being updated at this time. Slow rollout to be sure. But Iphone being better because of this? Eh, yes you might have the updated IOS but then you still have IOS. Is that really a win?? Not for me.

Also, tired of waiting? The OS is only 1 month old at this time. How long did you actually wait?

Curious what Sprint is pushing. Google hasn’t even posted a Factory Image for the Hammerhead
