That changes on Friday, January 30, though, as Google has officially updated its developer portal to indicate that both the 2012 and 2013 variants of the cellular-equipped Nexus 7 have been given the green light for the latest version of Android’s factory image. As usual, the factory image is meant for those who want to do a completely fresh install of the latest version of Android.
With the new software, the build number for both devices will be bumped up to LRX22G. That puts it in line with the build numbers released for the factory images on the non-cellular Nexus 7 models.
While there’s no word on when the over the air update will be released, but now that the Android 5.0.2 factory images have made it to a couple more devices the wait shouldn’t be much longer for those who don’t feel like installing the image directly to their tablet.
Have you tried out Android 5.0.2 yet?
