Android 5.0 Lollipop “coming soon” to LG G3

First the Moto G and now the LG G3? Good news G3 owners, you’re the next in line for a shiny, new update to Android 5.0, Lollipop.

Announced via Twitter, apparently the hip place to announce things today, Lollipop for the LG G3 is officially “coming soon.” As far as what coming soon means, we honestly have no idea. If it was today, LG probably wouldn’t be shy in bragging about it, so we have to imagine it might still be a while. Still, any update news is good news, right?

Unlike Motorola, LG loves messing around with Android and putting their own spin on it. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be plenty of what we love about Lollipop present when the update does hit, Material Design and all. Let us know if you seen any sign on Lollipop on your G3.

Took the update yesterday, I have European model and it’s working great but no root yet. I hope root will be working soon

I have mixed feelings about rooting phones. People view it as being something “negative”… but I look at it like this.. it’s like buying a new PC and only being allowed to use the Limited Profile and being denied the administrative account.

I think the one of the main reasons why people do that is just to be able to disable apps they don’t want running 24/7. I can understand the preloading… but why prevent users from wanting to uninstall or freeze/disable something they don’t wish to use?

I’ve already seen an lg g3 running lollipop in one of the local stores few weeks ago.

Lollipop has already rolled out for the G3 here in Europe, and it’s a bit of a mess – lots of bugs (to be ironed out in a rumored 5.0.2 release within the next few weeks). There’s also still no root for the official version.
