Earlier in February, a report surfaced that suggested Microsoft was planning to drop a large sum of money for the popular Sunrise Calendar app. Turns out those rumors were spot-on, as Microsoft has just confirmed the purchase.
On Wednesday, February 11, Microsoft confirmed the acquisition of the Sunrise Calendar app via a video they published to the official Microsoft YouTube page. However, as of the time of this writing the video seems to be private. More than that, though, as noted by The Verge, the financial details regarding the acquisition have not been revealed just yet. Previous rumors suggested that Microsoft would spend upwards of $100 million for the popular calendar app.
As far as the app is concerned for Android users, it still seems to be present within the Google Play Store at this point, and what Microsoft plans to do exactly is still unknown. Of course, the safe assumption is that Microsoft will start folding in Sunrise features into its existing services, including its brand new Outlook app.
