On February 5, a leaked document suggested that HTC’s One (M8) for Sprint would receive its update to Android 5.0 Lollipop beginning February 13, one week from today. The paper also suggested that the date printed was subject to change.
Turns out, it has changed. Sprint has confirmed that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the One (M8) will actually begin rolling out to handsets on Friday, February 6, and not the 13th. With this update, the One (M8)’s version number will bump up to 4.20.651.10, and like the Galaxy S5 before it, will remove the Lumen toolbar. The update will also bring plenty of the Lollipop goodness to the flagship, so owners should have plenty to look forward to soon.
As usual, though, these over the air updates can take some time before they land on all the active devices out there, so if you don’t see the update arrive on your handset today, stay tuned. The process has at least begun. Though, if you want to try your luck and pull the update down directly, just head into Settings –> System updates –> HTC software update –> Check now and keep those fingers crossed.
