YouTube Kids app launches with easy-to-navigate UI, parental controls

Google’s stable of YouTube apps is growing again today.

YouTube Kids has arrived on the digital shelves of the Google Play Store, right on schedule. The app’s got a kid-friendly user interface with bright colors, big icons, and parental controls. The app also will instantly go full-screen on videos and it’s got a timer that’ll alert kids when it’s time to stop watching.

YouTube Kids is available for smartphones and tablets and requires Android 4.1 or higher. Google says that it’ll make the app available for Kurio and nabi kids’ tablets “soon.”

Overall the new YouTube Kids app looks like a solid addition to Google’s app roster. Its user interface looks pretty easy to understand, will help kids learn how to use touch interfaces, and also make it easy for them to enjoy videos meant for them.
